Free Speech Wednesday

I’ve got a trifecta of items involving the issue of free speech for you today. Oddly enough, the leftists who can find a 4th Amendment violation by the Bush Administration around every corner are probably patting themselves on the back about each and every one of these.

We’ll start in Boulder, CO:

Tuesday, the Boulder City Council will take up the matter of allocating public funding for a “hate hotline,” which would give residents an opportunity to report incidents in which Boulderites use tactless language.

That’s right, folks! You too can turn your neighbor in for a ‘Speech Crime’! Don’t like the joke I told a couple weeks back about the US being able to replace the 200,000 residents of Mexico City who were killed in an earthquake from the vast population of illegals here in America? You can phone the city’s hotline and report me. Well, if I lived in Boulder.

And now we’ll move across the pond to the UK where, as much as they and the eurofile lefitsts in the US would like to think they can say whatever they want, they most certainly cannot.

Venezuelan Dictator, Hugo Chavez, visited London and met with the city’s mayor, ‘Red’ Ken Livingstone. Livingstone, not wanting to have his new bestest pal offended, banned any and all anti-Chavez activists/protesters from the vicinity of the London City Hall.

I bet ‘Red’ Ken would have people shot in honor of a Castro visit. Just as entertainment, mind you.

That story was so good, I think we’ll finish off in the UK, where sending disgusting pictures to your local hospital in protest of their activities will get you crippled for life.

Edward Atkinson, a 75-year-old anti-abortion activist, was jailed recently for 28 days for sending photographs of aborted foetuses to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn, Norfolk. That draconian sentence was not deemed punishment enough: the hospital has banned Mr Atkinson from receiving the hip replacement operation he was expecting.

The government giveth, and the government taketh away. Remember, to socialists, government is a diety.
