Earlier this week, the Senate approved an amendment to the immigration bill “to build 370 miles of triple-layered fencing along the Mexican border,” reports the Associated Press. The AP quotes one senator who took offense at the defense:
“What we have here has become a symbol for the right wing in American politics,” countered Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill. He said if the proposal passed, “our relationship with Mexico would come down to a barrier between our two countries.”
The vote to build the fence was 83-16. Here is a partial list of senators who voted sÃ: Joe Biden, Barbara Boxer, Hillary Clinton, Mark Dayton, Tom Harkin, John Kerry, Pat Leahy, Carl Levin, Barbara Mikulski, Harry Reid, Charles Schumer, Debbie Stabenow and Ron Wyden.
