The Soundboard: Driving Music Pt. 1

The ‘Summer Driving Season’ is nearly upon us. In regions that aren’t always warm and dry, this means that you can take your best vehicle out and drive until the wheels come off without worry of getting a spot of rain on it.

Even here in the NW, summer means that you may get a decent amount of warning before the torrential downpour happens to at least get your convertable top back up.

People drive in different ways during summer, the same way they drive differently on Sunday’s. The weather is nice and you can leave earlier and get home later without all that rushing around like during wintertime.

So I’ll be covering a few different styles with this series. These are just examples of what I’d listen to when driving in this style. I’m sure that each one of y’all has your own preference, but then again, you don’t have am FTP connection to tell me what you’d listen to, and I do.

Feel free to leave your selections in the comments. I may just include them in a future Soundboard.

Anyway, today we’re going to cover the ‘All Out’ style.

This usually (hopefully) takes place on a nice stretch of multiple lane interstate late Sunday night or early Monday morning (midnight to 4am). You have done your homework to see what the shift coverage of the Highway Patrol is going to be and your vehicle is tuned to perfection.

This has all taken place because tonight you are going all out. You are going to see what happens first: Your car tops out at speed or you run out of balls.

You need something completely unlike a slowjam and you want it loud.

I know that I want a minimum of 180 beats per minute and this track is from an album full of tunes that go from 160 to 240bpm. It’s over two hours long and I can and have listened to it for a few days straight. You can find it here (I hope you can do the dollar to euro conversion).

Enjoy

I’m on dailup right now AK, but I plan to go broadband again, in a week or two. I can hardly wait, I’ve missed downloading your selections. It gives me something to listen to over my dearly beloved’s choices that are on the hard drive.

Not complaining, just saying I like yer taste in music.

a guy can only take so much country before the room starts shrinking.

  3. Hwy 25 south of Hollister my FZ600 ran out of steam and the needle bounced around on the stop at 132 or so while I hugged the tank and listened to the tapping of the valves, wondering if one would let go. The faster guys were way ahead and I was just cop-bait trolling in back, except the CHP were out on 101 by King City, not back here in the hinterland.
Couldn’t play music because with the wind buffetting and engine noise in my helmet, it just turns in into a kind of weird musical marmelade.
