The NRA at the UN

Very kewl article — in one of the more widely read lefty think-tank journals, Foreign Policy — about the NRA’s “ambassador to the UN,” former Oregon state representative (!!!) Thomas Mason and some recent NRA/RKBA victories overseas.

I enjoy reading the other side’s articles about right-wing organizations from time to time, not just to see what they’re thinking, but also to profit from the authors’ legwork. If you ignore the not-so-subtle implication by the authors that everything they’re reporting on is Very Bad, you can pick up some good nuggets of info and finish the article thinking, “hey, they’re doing some pretty good work out there!”

This article’s no exception. Among other things, I hadn’t realized how significant was the NRA’s role in defeating Brazil’s recent gun ban referendum.

Also, Brazil’s only gun magazine is apparently called, simply, Magnum. How cool a name is that?

I grew up in Jerry the Geek’s town in the Willamette Valley, so I’m always interested when I see a fellow Oregonian doing good works out in the world. Bravo, Mr. Mason!
