The Soundboard: Takin’ Texas to the People

That was the catchphrase of ZZ Top’s 1976-77 “World Wide Texas Tour”. I know this because I’m looking at a repro of one of their tour posters sitting above and to the left of the desk at Blogstation Tacoma.

You could count on live Longhorn Steer wandering around the stage and some damn good BBQ at the concession stands.

Unfortunately, I was only 4 years old, so I couldn’t go.

But I’ve got the week off and I’m good to go with That Little Band From Texas.

So today, I’ve got a double shot of down home boot stompin’ boogie-woogie for y’all

From their album Tres Hombres:

Precious and Grace – ZZ Top

And from their album Fandango:

Nasty Dogs and Funky Kings – ZZ Top

Several years back they put out a “Sixpack” of CDs — basically all their good old albums in a single set. You can probably find it on eBay for a good price. It’s one of the treasures in my collection, for sure.
