The Soundboard: Mama Said

Play some Heart.

This Sunday is Mother’s Day (fellas, this post is what is considered “fair warning”), so in advance celebration I’ll be giving the Analog Mom a pre-Mother’s Day gift.

To say that some of the music I’ve posted is ‘angry’ or ‘dark’ would be a mild understatement. Alice in Chains, Skinny Puppy, etc aren’t happy folks and their music isn’t made to ‘uplift’. In the past, when I posted tunage of that nature, the Analog Mom has made suggestions for songs to post in the future, and being a good son, I payed attention and remembered some of her selections.

Like today’s tunage:

Magic Man – Heart

We’ll have to see if she has her air guitar technique down pat by Sunday.

On a trivia note, the Analog Mom missed being in the same high school graduating classes with Ann and Nancy Wilson by just a couple years.

Also, I have to drive past Ann Wilson’s house to get to my riflesmith’s place of business.

I remember vividly when MTV came to my town (I was 12) that the Wilson sisters’ videos were my first encounter with really exposed cleavage on TV. Ah, the mammaries — er, I mean, memories!

Of course, everybody else’s videos caught me up pretty quick on that front.

Thanks for the great song. And a little more trivia.
Those gals were somewhat younger than me (seems most everybody is), but I did graduate with our lovely
Governor – Chris O’Grady Gregoire (no, we didn’t hang out) AND visited Haight Ashbury in the 60’s. Now those are memories!

My daughter’s favorite restaurant is Cha Cha Cha in Haight Ashbury. It’s a very cute Cuban place. The walls are blood red so it’s pretty distinctive. Just wondering if it was there in the sixties?

  4. Analog Mom says:

I honestly can’t say if it was there waaaaay back then or not, but something tells me it probably wasn’t. At least not in it’s present form.
Three things stand out in my memory banks from that visit: 1. The facination I had with that beautiful city 2. Debating with myself whether to come back here or stay and be a cool hippie and 3. Getting kicked out of the Sky Lounge at the Top of the Mark for trying to use someone else’s ID!

  5. Kyle says:

AK, does your ‘smith live up on Somerset hill in south Bellevue? Or am I getting the sisters mixed up?
