Paging Michelle Malkin….

Mark Tapscott puts two and two together and makes a very interesting conjecture that OU (Oklahoma, not Oregon) suicide Joel Hinrichs’ death was connected to the recently revealed Algerian terror plots against the US — plots that were intended to outdo September 11 by targeting stadiums, among other things…. The bit about the Algerian professor next door and the roomie’s plane ticket to Algeria is pretty damning, I would think. Well, at least it’s worth further investigation.

They’re still out there, folks. “The price of liberty…” etc., etc.

Good eye, Mark!

Update: Jason at Generation Why notes that the Algerian plot was uncovered via one of those eeevil domestic electronic surveillance programs.

Further update: my bad, it’s University of Oklahoma (apparently commonly called OU) not Oklahoma State. Error corrected above. Thanks to DBJ for pointing this out.

  1. DBJ says:

That’s “OU”, as in “Oklahoma University”, not “OSU”, as in “Oklahoma State University”. If you’re gonna comment on it, kindly read it first and get it right?

  2. David says:

DBJ, you’re absolutely correct and I’ve fixed it above.

  3. DBJ says:

Thanks for the quick correction, David, but you’ve given away something about yourself. It is quite apparent that you’ve spent very little, if any, time in the midwest if you’re only just now learning that the University of Oklahoma is “apparently commonly called OU”. Where you been, guy?

  4. David says:

I admit it, the only Midwest state I’ve been to is… Iowa.

California native, grew up in Oregon, lived briefly in Maryland, been back in Cali since 1987. I’ve visited lots of other states, but Iowa’s the only Midwest one. (And I don’t know if Cedarville counts as being truly representative of Iowa, either.)

I figured there are lots of Oregon readers of this blog, so I wanted to make sure nobody thought I was referring to an Oregon campus. Thus the error — I was thinking OSU so that’s what I typed.

  5. DBJ says:

I’ve had to explain many times that the “O” in “OSU” means “Oklahoma” instead of “Ohio”, but I’ve never before had anyone mistake it for “Oregon”. But, I’ve never been to Oregon.

Both OU and OSU are part of the “Big 12 Athletic Conference”, as is Iowa State. I’ll bet you weren’t in Iowa through the football season, were you? Around this part of the country, people say, “The game’s on!” in early September and don’t come up for air until the bowl games are over.

  6. David says:

Nope. ‘Twas Spring, and very pretty too. We came out from California on a business trip and were astonished at the size of people’s yards and the absence of traffic. Also didn’t know what to make of the storm windows at the hotel until someone explained them to us.
