Boomershoot Rifles

Well, I had some things to do at the office so I wasn’t able to get to the range last weekend as I’d hoped. But I was able to develop our Christmas pics, including these of the 2006 Boomershoot rifles:

Here’s the .300 Weatherby under the tree. The box is the old-style box, back when one of the Weatherby slogans (on the other side of the box) was “Step Up to Perfection.” I don’t think they’re using that one anymore….

Here’s a couple closeups of the figure on the stock. So creamy you could eat it with a spoon! Yum!

Here’s a comparison of the Weatherby and the 2005 Boomershoot Sako .308. Really shows the difference in the wood figure and finish. The one was about double the price of the other, too….

And here’s the 2005 Boomershoot .257 Weatherby for comparison.

All three of these rifles are going to Boomershoot 2006, along with my Encore carbine and an Encore handgun I’ve posted about before. On the way up, my wife and I will fight about who gets to shoot what.

All scopes are the Burris Signature Select 8-32×44 in the Burris Signature rings with the Pos-Align inserts, both recommended to me by Gene Econ. They’re a step below the Analog Kid’s Burris Black Diamond, but I’ve been quite happy with them.

I’ve already determined last year that Black Hills .308 Match 168-grain works great in the Sako, so now I have a few months to figure out good loads for the Weatherbys. Benjamin of Reasonablenut’s noted that’s likely to be an expensive undertaking….
