My skepticism shall not be mocked

During my late high school years I was a naysayer about my ability of actually being able to draw on Social Security when our time came. I was derided as being a pessimist.

Not because of the stupid crap I did while still feeling invincible, but because the program was considered one of those things that “will always be there”.

The 20 year reunion will be coming up shortly. I’m wondering if being able to prove I was right would make my attendance worth it?

Probably not. Plus, as I understand it, after the initial comedy, reunions are pretty depressing. I can go to work and be depressed.

Or I can read this bit of news

How quickly can 700 government employees spend three-quarters of a million taxpayer dollars at a resort hotel?

Last week the Social Security Administration flew approximately 700 of its managers from across the U.S. and Guam to Phoenix, Arizona’s posh Arizona Biltmore Hotel and Resort, for “organizational training.” The event, which included musical entertainment and dancing, skits, catered food, cocktails, and a “casino night” featuring “door prizes,” cost us lowly taxpayers approximately $750,000.

Forget that the Social Security Administration, a division of the U.S. Government to which every American is required by force of law to hand-over a portion of their earnings, has been headed for insolvency for over a decade. Ignore the fact that SSA is estimated to waste hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars each year in faulty “overpayments.”

And as long as we’re experiencing a need for disregarding details, make sure you overlook these facts, as well: The United States Federal deficit is rapidly approaching $1 trillion (last month it surpassed $991 billion).

Precious metals. Guns and ammo. The only REAL investments that’ll always be there.

The 20th might still retain some value – but I/we got zero, zilch, nada, none – no followups despite everyone “this is so great, you look fabulous, wow,” eagerly proclaiming “lets get together.” Attempting to further re-connect I drove out to the day-after picnic, which was little more than a parental-orgasm toddler-fest.
Sigh. They’re all Liberals anyhow, cement-heads sunk low in the popular culture/now values swamp.
