Time to pull up stakes?

Since the Maryland Legislature has decided that it doesn’t like the way that Wal-Mart does its business, I have to agree with Mr. Preston at the JunkYardBlog that Wal-Mart should turn right around and show the Maryland Legislature that Wal-Mart doesn’t like the way the Legislature does business either and close everyone of their 40 stores inside Maryland and reopen them in towns that border the state.

That’ll be approximately 17,000 jobs that the Legislators who voted to override the Governor’s veto lost for their state’s residents by forcing their socialist business model on a private company.

That’ll also mean that the state’s residents will have to find 40 new places to shop for what they want at a price they like.

JYB also links to this funny GIF file at Clark Mountain Musings called “Wal-Mart Strategically Redeploys”.

Notice the use of Murtha-speak there?

It’s funny because it’s true.

  1. You know one of the Seattle Dems has proposed something similar for WA, right?

Can’t remember which one off hand.

  2. Rimfirejones says:

I couldn’t accurately gauge the impact such a move would make in Maryland, but the state/county/muni sales tax revenues alone in another state I have actual knowledge of could fund a small nation. If the business (Wal-Mart) generating those revenues could cross borders and still serve a significant percentage of the same population, the economic outlook for that region would be very significantly degraded.
