Get Ribbed

For your protection.

And her pleasure.

Mr. Completely posts that his local paper, The South Whidbey Record, had made the decision to stop posting ads for firearms and ammunition in their classifieds section.

The South Whidbey Record, published by Sherry Mays, put these words at the top of Section 7150 Guns/Ammo,

“For the protection of our readers, we will no longer accept advertising by private individuals for the sale of firearms

Now, Mr. Completely has some thoughts as to how stopping the advertising of firearms in her paper equals the protection of readers of the paper, but I would like to know, if the idea is to protect the readership, why do they still allow the advertising of items such as automobiles.

Any idiot who can read statistics can tell you that far more people die or are injured by automobiles every day, week, month and year than by firearms.

Or how about motorcycles, are they still accepting ads for those death machines?

Or, oh my goodness, the killers of hundreds of people each year, off road vehicles and farm equipment? While I know of no one who was injured or killed by firearms (not counting wartime injuries), I personally know of three people who have lost appendages to one of those inanimate objects.

I mean, if it is about protection, then let’s get serious, Ms. Mays.

Disclaimer #1: While respect her right to do what she likes with her own paper, just as I have a right to complain about it, she should at least be honest about it.

Disclaimer #2: I use the condom reference because the readers of her paper just got screwed and thought they might like a figurative one.
