Boomershoot 2006 in Comfort

I had so much fun at Boomershoot 2005 that my wife agreed to tag along this year (probably to get me to stop yapping about how much fun I had, etc.).

This is despite the fact I was sidelined last year with a severe case of sunburn/sunstroke. (Doubly embarrassing for a Californian — but hey, I work in an office!) This year, I’ve resolved to a) bring more sunscreen, and b) bring a well-designed portable canopy to cover our shooting position. Historically, it’s been rainy at Boomershoot, so a canopy is important in any case.

One requirement is that it must be large enough to span both of our shooting benches comfortably, with room for a spotting scope behind. Also, side panels are a must due to the fact that last year, the Analog Kid and I discovered the importance of low-angle shade to cut sun exposure time and reduce glare. Here’s what I’ve picked out. Imagine two of my steel-pipe shooting benches — one left-handed for me, and one right-handed for my wife — instead of the Adirondack chairs, and you’ll get the idea.

(I ordered the above from this site. It was backordered, but shipping date is supposed to be March 1st or thereabouts. Plenty of time for Boomershoot.)
