A Big Round of Thanks

Thank you to everyone who commented or emailed about Jake’s post yesterday.

The little guy is doing OK now that the anesthesia has fully worn off though he doesn’t like his pill-form meds.

But to cover my bases and clear the air here, I didn’t post that in the hopes of raising money to help with the vet bills. My schtick is being blunt as a 8lb sledge and I would have put something like that in the opening line.

We bought Jake his own health care plan the week we got him and that took care of 90% of the bill, knocking it down to just $60.

However, if you would like to donate to a noble cause involving animals, I would like to point you to Petfinder.Com.

Except for Pauly the Turtle, we have found each of the pets currently in our menagerie via that site. A bag of dog or cat food to your local shelter is always appreciated. Or, if you have the room, they have animals that are more needy for a home than the vast majority of ‘Homeless’ humans.

A word of caution though: Ol Cold-Hearted me can’t spend more than 5 minutes there without getting dew-eyed or adopting something. But I sincerely hope that you can find a shelter local to you that could use a hand if you have a hand to lend.

Just one other thing that some people overlook, animal shelters can always use clean blankets for the critters. Unlike some of us(meaning me) it’s not always about food.
