Post Inaugural Report

All in all, I think that the speech itself was a decent effort. If only Bush was as good at public oration as Teddy Roosevelt ot Dutch, it would have been a knock out. But I guess we can’t have everything.

Now let’s hope he acts on it.

Here is the text of the speech.

After you are done reading that, stop by the Babalu Blog and read Mr. Prieto’s and his parent’s take on it. It’s a wonderful thing.

And now we move onto the anti-inaugural protest round-up.

Michele Malkin has a good collection of links at her place.

But I must go on with my own as well,

First up, a group calling themselves the Internet Liberation Front (ILF) went and hacked at least five Republican websites in protest of the inauguration.

I guess they’re trying to liberate the internet from freedom of speech or something.

Here in Seattle, less than 1000 people showed up for the protests in the city’s commercial district that I mentioned yesterday. Of course, the organizers are saying that the number was actually somewhere between 5-6000. I guess everyone there has multiple personalities. Things were peaceful for the most part and only one arrest was reported.

So much for the Seattle PD and the ‘riot igniting tactics’ that the lefties here always complain about.

In unpeaceful protests, an Army recruiter, Sgt. 1st Class Jeff Due, had his table ransacked, his promotional items stolen and destroyed and was basically run out of Seattle Central Community College by a crowd of punks.

Just south my location, in Portland, OR, the smalls group of anti-Inaugural protesters (less than 500 or so) wandered their stoned little minds through the streets with their signs.

One pair of jackasses handcuffed themselves to the steel ‘pump guards’ and invited their loser friends to a sit-in, closing down a local Chevron gas station for a few hours to protest the “War for Oil! etc”.

Stationary Anarchists + Explosive Fluids = Fun for the Analog Kid. Too bad I was 175 miles away. Maybe the idea of handcuffing yourself to a gas pump will get popular in Bush’s second term.

But the big ‘to do’ was in Washington DC. I had a hard time going to sleep yesterday afternoon because I was watching the ANSWER portest on CSPAN 2.

The Analog Wife said that I would stop, mid-snore, to laugh at something one of the jackasses on stage said. I think it got to me a little bit, because the last dream I remember before I woke up was that I was ordering pizza on my cell phone.

I remember them bitching that Cynthia McKinney was being held back from speaking by the security checkpoints. I do not remember her speaking. But that is OK, I didn’t need the nightmares from that.

By now, I’m sure you’ve read about the attack on the Protest Warriors by the ANSWER folks. If not, here is a link.

And that’s it. Bush now has at least two good years to get things done. He can gain more by building up a viable successor. Let’s cross our fingers folks.
