Something I’ll have to look into

Uncle provided a link to The Firearm Blog’s post on a Bullpup type stock to retrofit to an SKS (overly dramatic but informative video below).

I don’t know why they couldn’t have put the 1913 rail low enough to be able to make use of the front sight. But that is OK. I’ll have the smith torch the solder out of it and mount one of these to the rail.

How soon we forget. I don’t, though. I remember shooting next to you when you had an SKS Kaboom!, and basically, your safety glasses saved your ugly mug and eyes.

Do you really want to put such a kaboomly action right under your nose?

I wouldn’t. Every inch you can get it farther away from your face increases the likelihood you will live to fight another day.

You might want to take some memory supplements there, RD. I’ve never had a epic failure with any firearm. Nor have I had an SKS malf that would even qualify to be overstated as a epic failure.

I’ve seen guys have the gas valve not turned properly on their launcher equipped Yugos, but the opposite of an explosion malf happened there.

That, and I don’t wear safety glasses. I’m prescribed.

Well, I remember SOMEONE’S SKS failing with a ruptured cartridge and consequent broken bolt, and the backblast being quite evident, with smoke and a powdered face. If it wasn’t you, I apologize.

I suppose I could have dreamed this, but I probably didn’t.

My reflections on bullpups remains, however, with the admonition that anyone who wants to convert a milsurp semi-auto to bullpup configuration needs to be aware that such configurations require the very highest in action integrity.

John Moses Browning DID NOT design the SKS.
