Happy B-Day

To The Mom

The big Six-Oh has arrived and I’m off to get stuff for her big day.

While I’m doing that, you can take a looksee at what Senator Joe Lieberman has on his plate in the Senate Homeland Security Committee

Why, its Senate Bill 1959 (aka HB 1955)

The Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism and Prevention Act

Sounds just like a big, tough piece of legislation should, doesn’t it?

Yeah, well, its a “Piece” of something all right. Why don’t you take the day (or the weekend) and read through this sumbitch. Then imagine, scary a thought as it may be, that HRC or Edwards (or Giuliani) gets elected.

Try this snippet out….

899A. DEFINITIONS.

“For purposes of this subtitle:

“(1) Commission.—The term ‘Commission’ means the National Commission on the Prevention of Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism established under section 899C.

“(2) Violent radicalization.—

“The term ‘violent radicalization’ means the process of adopting or promoting an extremist belief system for the purpose of facilitating ideologically based violence to advance political, religious, or social change.

“(3) Homegrown terrorism.—

“The term ‘homegrown terrorism’ means the use, planned use, or threatened use, of force or violence by a group or individual born, raised, or based and operating primarily within the United States or any possession of the United States to intimidate or coerce the United States government, the civilian population of the United States, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.

“(4) Ideologically based violence.—

“The term ‘ideologically based violence’ means the use, planned use, or threatened use of force or violence by a group or individual to promote the group or individual’s political, religious, or social beliefs.

Sounds like an excuse to round up GOA members to me. I know my words of distrust of the government constitute an “extremist social belief” to folks on the other side of the aisle and that this blog is the tool of my dissemination of those beliefs to you all.

I even seriously doubt that that any threat would have to be issued. All it would take is a skilled DA with an agenda to say that the threats they “perceived” were “implied”, but that they still constituted “threats”. Especially when you get to this

899B. FINDINGS.

(3) The Internet has aided in facilitating violent radicalization, ideologically based violence, and the homegrown terrorism process in the United States by providing access to broad and constant streams of terrorist-related propaganda to United States citizens.

And

(9) Certain governments, including the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia have significant experience with homegrown terrorism and the United States can benefit from lessons learned by those nations.

We’re living in the last, best place on the planet. I don’t want to lose it.

This has to be stopped.

Gives me the willies too… Sounds like advocating the second ammendment is a defense against tyranny could count… it’s threatening the use of force against the government to keep them in line.

For once, I’m glad I live in the Ninth Circuit. This law doesn’t have a prayer in the Ninth, as it infringes on speech rights so badly that it’s laughable.

I’ll put up with mad mullahs screaming violence from local mosques, because putting up with that gives me the right, USING HYPERBOLE, to say “off with their heads”.

So, I guess I’ll have to join with the mad mullahs to defend my free speech rights.

Remember, that Gadsden flag still means you might be a domestic terrorist according to the state of Pennsylvania.

Or, if you believe “Gun Control is a conspiracy to enslave us starting with the removal of our ability to either defend ourselves or forcefully change our government,”

I know I keep coming back to this stuff but I can’t help it. It’s so absurd, but the bureaucrats with the mindset that developed this thing influence law enforcement.

The buzz over this bill will just pump up the blogs (and add a BUNCH of sales to the account for my book, if I can get off my ass and get it finished and to the publisher).
