Christmas Comes Early This Year

…because I WON A KNIFE from Last Man Standing Defense!

I’ve lived with my last name for long enough that the moment John Chapman intoned “David… unpronounceable” I knew it was me. And sure enough, an email from the man himself was waiting in my inbox.

cat200.jpgThe knife I won is a TOPS Knives C.A.T-057, and it comes with a Kydex sheath. I can’t seem to find that particular model on the TOPS website, but here’s their C.A.T. lineup. The C.A.T. 200 is pictured at left (click for bigger). Looks like some nice knives!

Here’s the story: A while back I posted about the great experience Derek, the Packing Rat, had at the LMS Defense pistol course he attended. I’d never heard of this outfit, but Derek gave a rave review, and they sound like a top-notch organization with excellent training. Derek was kind enough to invite me to join him in an LMS Defensive Medicine class this coming Spring, and I promptly signed up. One of the benefits, Derek pointed out, is that anyone enrolling in an LMS Defense class before 4:00pm December 24th is eligible to win nifty prizes! They’re picking new winners each day and calling it their “Twelve Days of Christmas” event. Very, very kewl.Tom-boy.jpg

Well, this past week was one of the more hectic and draining I’ve experienced — I learned that trying to convince multiple attorneys from different firms on different coasts to agree on a single document is far, far worse than herding cats — so when I got home from the office Saturday evening (grr) I was well and truly ready to veg out with the Intartubes. So I was just surfing and sipping bourbon when I meandered over to the LMS Defense Twelve Days of Christmas thread and watched the video for Day No. 1. My reaction is at right.

Obviously I’m quite happy and want to say a very big “Thank You” to Mr. Chapman and the rest of the folks at LMS Defense, and to Rick and Ann Morello at Tactical-Ops Nevada for donating the knife. And to the Packing Rat, for bringing this great company to my attention.

And I’ll definitely be taking their suggestion to spread the giving to a good charitable cause like FisherHouse.org that helps wounded veterans and their families.

There are lots of LMS Defense classes on all sorts of great subjects, and at great prices too. Sign up for one, and start checking the Twelve Days of Christmas thread yourself!
