The Soundboard: The Group Dynamic

First, an announcement: Next week there will be a pause in The Group Dynamic posts to make way for the annual RNS Bagpipe Christmas tunage. The Soundboard: TGD will resume the week of New Years with something special.

But this week were gonna come back to the Pacific NW for our “Group”.

The first album on display dropped in 1988 and was huge. It wasn’t quite so large as to be issued by the Washington State DMV when residents were renewing their licenses, like what happened in Texas in 1983, but it was damn close.

Queensryche hit the world with Operation: Mindcrime and never looked back. And you know that when the guys from Rush run out and buy an album, you’ve got a winner.

Eyes of a Stranger

They followed that with their multiplat disc, Empire, which scored them chart success. Of course, we locals always had one track we could dedicate to our wimminfolk no matter what their name, time of year, or other odd circumstance (nice and handy).

Jet City Woman

They just put out a new album of rather curious covers just last month titled “Take Cover”. I’m still going through it and deciding which one is my favorite. Listening to a guy with a 4-octave vocal range cover The Police’s “Syncronicity II” and Pink Floyd’s “Welcome to the Machine” takes some getting used to.
