Guess who’s back

Back again.

RD’s back. Tell a friend!

Yes-sah! Our good man Rivrdog is back in the interwebs, having taken some time off to write his novel, which as I understand it, is coming along swimmingly, hence the return.

So top on by and see what he’s been up to.

Also, by all means, if you see a link to a Blosnot blog called “Guns make us Free” or see comments from some jackhole calling himself “NRA Fourever”, do not click on the link, do not dare anyone to click on the link.

Think “The Gun Guys” meets a crack smoking Tom Sizemore.

And lastly, I’ve injured myself at the health club, which I find more than a bit ironic, so I’m a bit gimpy and sore on the left wing portion of my person. Hence, the less of me around these parts the last couple days. On the upside though, I feel great until I try and lift something w/my left arm.

Later, taters.

Errr, slight correction, Phil…the novel is NOT coming along as swimmingly as I want, and I have stood the work down until I get another rush of inspiration. I was pressurizing myself trying to write on a schedule, and the product was not turning out right, so I backed off.

Gotta keep the brain cells bz, tho, so here I am blogging again.

Hope that’s not a rotator cuff injury…I’m just finishing a course of Physical Therapy for one of those. Major PITS (pain in the shoulder). Severely limiting, at it’s worst, I could barely drive my manual-tranny truck. Don’t try to get back into “normal” heavy work too fast, or you will re-injure.

Test for healing is to put injured arm behind back, make 90-degree bend in elbow, and see if you can touch your shoulder blade. If this hurtz, stop and keep rehabbing. My rehab consists of easy stretches (in the hot shower, thank God for my new in-line H20 heater), and gradually increasing resistance using the “theraband” rubber strips of increasing tension. I’m up to the fifth color now.

Another big problemo for me was sleeping, as I rotate like a pig on a spit at night. I had to relearn sleeping so as not to rotate. That involved tying my arm to my waist, because I used that arm (and re-injured it every night) to flop over in my sleep. That simple expedient worked. I used a theraband tied to a belt worn around my PJs to tie my forearm at the elbow and wrist to the belt. The physical therapist actually approved of this idea (most medical providers reject my self-help ideas out of hand).

    Good luck with the arm/shoulder.
