She should ask for volunteers to make a line

Last Christmas, the Puget Sound area was hit with a gruesome murder scene created by a woman and her boyfriend of her entire family.

It has been 7 months since she has been arrested and the news has leaked out that she is demanding to be killed by the state. And that the state is refusing.

Michele Anderson says she is sorry for killing six members of her family on Christmas Eve and wants to be punished in the most severe way possible — by execution.

In a jailhouse interview, Anderson, 29, said Friday that years of physical and emotional abuse led her to “snap” just before she barged into her parents’ home near Carnation along with her boyfriend Joseph McEnroe and fatally shot her family, including two young children.

………

Anderson said she has been trying to plead guilty to six counts of aggravated first-degree murder for months. However, a requirement in state law makes it impossible for her to do so because the King County prosecuting attorney is still deciding whether to seek the death penalty against her and McEnroe.

Anderson said she wants desperately to circumvent that special-sentencing process and admit in court to the slayings. Death, she said, is the only fair punishment.

I, and probably the majority of Washingtonians, agree with her. Why is the state making it so damn difficult to get off the tax rolls? All the prosecutor has to do is check a box, write a paragraph and hand it off to a judge.

There is an Citizen’s Initiative going through the process right now after having turned in the collected signatures that will Washington’s version of Oregon’s assisted suicide law. This will pass come November.

We’re not squeamish around here when it comes to folks wanting to off themselves. We lead the nation in that fake crazy people excuse called Seasonal Affective Disorder (aka: SAD) Hell, living near the underside of a bridge around here means dealing with folks who are using gravity to their suicidal advantage.

Apparently, as in all things, leaving something this simple to the government means it will be mismanaged.

Doesn’t California still have the law that if you get the death penalty, they have to hold a whole new trial, just to make sure that you really were guilty, whether you want it or not?

No idea, though it does sound rather Californian.
