The culprit who set in those spikes that were discovered on the bottom of Seattle’s Green Lake has supposedly been found.

The Seattle Parks Department

A little egg on the face of the Seattle Parks Department this morning. After looking through its records the agency discovered that they are responsible for those mysterious spikes found in Green Lake.

The so-called spikes were part of a massive 120,000 square foot plastic tarp staked to the lake bottom to control underwater plants.

The stakes were originally hooked at the end to hold the plastic down. The hooks simply corroded and broke off leaving a sharp end pointing out.

Sorry, but I’m not buying a word of it. as the last paragraph of the article notes, why did it take the department almost three weeks to fess up to it and why weren’t any of them found in a scouring of the lake bottom a couple years ago?

Is there something under the lake pushing them out of the ground? And if so, shouldn’t this be investigated?
Actually, with Seattle being Seattle, the city wants this story to go away and is making the department take the blame. you don’t stake a tarp down with a spike that sticks up a foot out from the lake bottom and no one has seen these damn things in two decades of the supposedly being there.

I don’t generally believe in conspiracy theories, but if you want to label this as one, I believe in this.

I’m with you ……. You mean to tell us “stupid folks” not a single person or pet has been anywhere near that area of the lake in 20 years! That not a single living thing has kicked up the bottom in that area, fallen off a water craft or gone diving anywhere near this HUGE, HURKIN area? Ya right. Just tells me “they” actually do believe we’re that dumb …..

But it doesn’t really matter if we believe them or not, does it? That’s their story and they’re stickin to it.

Dude, you obviously haven’t spent time in Seattle, or dealing with their city government.

  3. Chuckles says:

OK, I take that back. You have. My apologies. That, if anything, should be convincing evidence that it’s a feasible story.

  4. Phil says:

Nope, sorry Chuck, this one can’t be explained away by their sheer incompetence. This is them thinking we’re stupid enough to believe anything they tells us.
