3 May Day marches likely to slow traffic
Three separate May Day marches Thursday are expected to cause traffic disruptions in downtown Seattle. Metro Transit expects all bus service will be affected from 4 to 6:30 p.m., with delays of up to an hour. Passengers are encouraged to use bus lines that serve downtown via the Seattle transit tunnel.
And even with the bus tunnel service, King County Metro bus service is telling their drivers they may be an hour late in getting off work.
And don’t forget that today is also the ILWU’s planned day for a west coast walk-off
The International Longshore & Warehouse Union began planning in February for a coast-wide protest Thursday against the war in Iraq. May 1 is traditionally a day that celebrates labor and workers’ rights.
Such an event could have an impact beyond the port, including companies that depend on importing and exporting goods.
