Seattle Mayor, Greg Nickels, he of the 2005 US Mayors Climate Protection Agreement, has decided to stick it to the parents of Seattle my blackmailing them with their children.
“Some say that if we don’t do something to cut greenhouse gas emissions soon, the North Pole might be ice-free in summer as early as 2030. That’s why we’re launching ‘Operation Save Santa,’†Nickels wrote in his letter.
Nickels asked Santa to recognize that Seattleites should be on his “nice†list for all of their efforts to conserve energy. They helped make Seattle the first city in the nation to cut greenhouse gas emissions to 8 percent below 1990 levels. And they continue to make a difference through Seattle Climate Action Now, a grassroots campaign to help people reduce climate pollution at home, at work and when making transportation choices.
I’ll start worrying when those who say they worry start acting like they’re worried.
Example: UN Climate Change Summit in……Bali
Tempo Interaktif reports that Angkasa Pura – the management of Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport are concerned that the large number of additional private charter flights expected in Bali during the UN Conference on Climate Change (UNFCCC) December 3-15, 2007, will exceed the carrying capacity of apron areas. To meet the added demand for aircraft storage officials are allocating “parking space” at other airports in Indonesia.
The operational manager for Bali’s Airport, Azjar Effendi, says his 3 parking areas can only accommodate 15 planes, which means that some of the jets used by VIP delegations will only be allowed to disembark and embark their planes in Bali with parking provided at airports in Surabaya, Lombok, Jakarta and Makassar.
You’d think they could “Plane-Pool” or something? Or maybe just have the conference in their already designated location at Turtle Bay.
If their human hating, socialist theories are correct, they’ll only have to wait a few more years and Turtle Bay will be just like Bali.
Apparently they never have heard of teleconferencing.
