Everybody’s getting a new gun….

First The Gun Guy got his new toy, and now Benjamin of Reasonablenut (who I’m happy to say I met briefly at this year’s Boomershoot) has a shiny new Springfield National Match M1A! I’d call that the Queen of semiauto rifles, but then what do I know. It’s a shooter, too! Congrats, Benjamin — very kewl!

And I’m happy to say I’m just a couple weeks away (California waiting period, grr, grr) from being able to hold in mine own hands this fine piece of wood & metal sculpture that I intend to make next year’s Boomershoot rifle:

Yup, she’s a Weatherby! A left-handed Mark V Deluxe in .300 Weatherby! (I’m one of those sinestral types, don’tcha know)

Should be just the thing for detonating those boomers waaaay out there, assuming I can get on target! Gene Econ told me he hadn’t yet encountered a Weatherby that was quite accurate enough, but we’ll see….

Oh, yeah, if you hadn’t guessed, I’m broke now. This ate up pretty much all of the-gun-buying-allowance-my-wife-lets-me-spend. She appreciates fine things (hey, this is what her Beretta looks like)

…so I don’t think she’ll mind that I spent it all in one place. And she’ll let me bum ammo money from time to time. Right, honeybunny?
