Video of a SWAT raid on a middle class family over an ounce of pot. The kids get to experience the cops killing their family Corgi. Then they had the audacity to charge the parents with child endangerment.
While I am disgusted at cops who get off on exercising this kind of power over others, I place 90% of the blame on the police leadership, the politicians, and ultimately, on us for thinking this is an acceptable use of police powers.
Used to think the cops were always the good guys. Then I grew up. Cops are the power of the state.
I spent over twenty years in emergency services as a volunteer firefighter. During that time I met a number of cops from various agencies and many of them I liked and some became close friends. Toward the end of my time I was becoming disturbed at the quality of the young bucks coming into law enforcement and my time since then has only re-enforced my views. Nearly all the young cops I’ve encountered today are not so much trained as they are indoctrinated. They are devoid of common sense, a sense of humor, or independant thought. They are a slave to the SOP and encountering any situtation outside it they are totally at a loss of what to do.
Plus they are the product of our modern educational system which means that you could add up their IQ’s and it wouldn’t add up to a decent roll of the dice.
I wouldn’t put my safety in their hands and wouldn’t trust any of them as far as I can spit.

Not sure that a single video tells all but looks bad. Still I have spent over 40 years in LE and everything TBIRD said is crap!
It’s not just the video Sulaco, it’s the idea that police need to use a SWAT team to serve every drug warrant, especially when the gain is an arrest for misdemeanor possession. It’s the fact that this SWAT team terrorized a middle class family and riddled two dogs with bullets in front of a child, and the DA had the nerve to charge the parents with child endangerment over misdemeanor possession (exactly who was endangering the child here?).
I know hindsight is 20/20, and police can’t know exactly which warrant will have a violent thug willing to go out in a blaze of glory, and which will have people who will come peacefully; who will destroy evidence, and who won’t; but these days, it seems the police default to SWAT, instead of SWAT being the ultimate option, rather than the first one.
