Mmm-Mmm Good

Inspired by Phil’s Pot Pie Post, the wife purchased one of each style — Chicken and Beef — for us to try out. The beef we baked in the oven; it was good but tasted remarkably like the old Swanson’s beef pot pies of my youth, with a weird beefy aftertaste that I never cared for.

The chicken pot pie, however, we nuked — and amazingly the crust came out flakier than the oven-baked one! Direct from the freezer to the microwave, you don’t even remove it from the box, and in just 14 minutes (faster if you’ve got a more powerful nuker than the 1980s model that came with our house) you’re eating hot, flaky, tasty goodness.

$4 each at our local Lucky. 550 calories. My stomach’s full on half of one, which works great as I can eat half at lunch and then reheat the rest for dinner.
