The Joys of Socialized Medicine: Part #6576

Got a bum knee and a little pudge around the middle?

How about a big ass that didn’t provide enough padding when you fell and ended up breaking your hip due to the onset of osteoperosis?

Well then, you are a heathen piece of shit who deserves to suffer. At least according to the people who have your best interest in mind from the UK’s National Health Service in East Suffolk.

Fat people will no longer be given hip and knee replacements on the NHS in East Suffolk. GPs and consultants have agreed not to refer anyone classed as obese to a specialist until they have lost weight to help to save the area’s primary care trusts £47.9 million.

A team of GPs and senior consultants from Ipswich Hospital spent nine months investigating ways to address the trusts’ financial problems and drew up a list of criteria that must be met before treatment for conditions such as varicose veins and glue ear.

The truly battering irony here being that, if you have injured your hips or knees, you are now, at best, wheelchair mobile and cannot exercise to lose the weight. Hope you like those starvation diets!

Remember, no matter how much of your tax money goes into the bucket for these ‘Free’ services, the bean counters in the administrative offices are the ones that decide who gets what.

Never, ever, trust a bean counter to have your best interest in mind.

RNS Quote of the Day

The American philosophy of the Rights of Man was never grasped fully by European intellectuals. Europe’s predominant idea of emancipation consisted of changing the concept of man as a slave of the absolute state embodied by a king, to the concept of man as a slave of the absolute state embodied by “the people – i.e. switching from slavery to a tribal chief into slavery to the tribe. A non-tribal view of existence could not penetrate the mentalities that regarded the privilege of ruling material producers by physical force as a badge of nobility.

The Big Letdown

Hello everyone, Professor Booty here. I know I was supposed to be here yesterday, but you know how it goes on holiday weekends.

Please excuse me while I get longwinded.

A couple months ago I had to take a leave of absence from posting here because of something called “The ASSignment. I couldn’t tell you all about it then because I was sworn to secrecy and to let it out at that time would have made the entire project a colossal failure.

But I can tell you about it now and how it has turned out to be a gigantic waste of time.

I am going to assume you all have heard of the entertainer, Mariah Carey. She is known for having a excellent octave range and for being what some would call a ‘Diva’. Her career has been quite successful, or, I should say, had been quite successful until the event known as ‘The Latin Explosion’.

The Day After

We’re gonna keep it short today. Craig is hard at work and everything I put here has to be moved over to the new place. So as to lessen his work load, this’ll be it for today and The Professor has some news he’ll drop off tomorrow, but other than that, this is probably it until Monday.

Have a good weekend out there folks. Don’t take too many elbows to the ribs from your fellow shoppers this weekend.

Remember, be aggressive!

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone

You shouldn’t really be here today, but since you are, I’ll give you something to process through your synapses.

To start, I am thankful for the Analog Wife, who puts up with me occasionally yelling at this here 21st century version of “The Boob Tube (and aren’t there a lot of boobs out there?) and my fascination with inanimate objects that go Vroom! and others that go BANG! and my obsession with a select few of them.

I am also thankful for my right to own said objects that go BANG!, given to me by my creator. Likewise, I am thankful for the right to be able to choose (or not to choose) exactly who that creator is and for my right to be able to write the first part of this sentence without some religious zealot reporting me to the government so that they may attempt to detach my skull from my torso.

I am extremely thankful that this country, governed by laws and not men, has millions of individuals who are willing to make their daily bread being the warriors who fight the men who try to overtake the aforementioned laws.

That’s not a complete list, but is good enough for the time I have available today.

You all have a good Thanksgiving Day and we’ll see you tomorrow.

Don’t mind our dust

This post will stay at the top for this week. Please scroll down for new posts.

There will be some changes happening here at RNS during the next week or so.

I am fully aware that the TypeKey comment program here has a sucking chest wound and doesn’t work most of the time. I am also getting deluged with trackback spam, so we’re going to make some structural changes over this holiday week.

Craig at MT Politics has very kindly agreed to lend me a hand in getting the Good Ship RNS into full-on blogging shape, including making it so that the comments actually work.

We’ll also be switching to a WordPress format here, so if you don’t have an ID for WP, you might want to think about getting one in the near future.

If you see some things that don’t just don’t look right or get a redirect page, do not worry about having to put down your scotch glass, it is just us.

Please bear with us, we’re working on it.

The Leader of the Pack

Local Seattle area blogger and hypocrite, Goldy of RonSimsAss.Org, who believes that election corruption is a good thing, so long as A) It is only just a little bit of corruption, and B) Said elections office is run by Democrats, decided to try and play victim yesterday.

Yes, even in a state where Democrats win and win big, he figured he’d rile the troops up by linking to a whining fellow local leftist who blogs as “Jesus’ Generalâ€? (but oddly enough, doesn’t link to the guy).

You see, General Whiner is sad about the torture of terrorists and crushed by collateral damage numbers, ignorant enough to think that White Phosphorus is a chemical weapon and obsessed enough to think that Bush is trying to set up a theocracy here in the US via the minority ‘Christian Right’. The General says that “I can’t bear the thought of my grandson living in the world these bastards are creating. We have to do all we can to defeat them.

As I snicker, I remember that I live in the second or third most socially ignorant location in the country, Seattle, and that this is what I am up against when dealing with these imbeciles.

I snap back into reality, only to read this line from Goldy,

Which raises the question… are we progressives really willing to do all we can to defeat them? I mean… everything?

First, let me say that, no Goldy, you and your bunch of pussies are not up for dealing with folks such as myself. You all have been screaming for a revolution against “The Manâ€? or “The Systemâ€? for four decades, and yet none of you can gather up the balls to do a damn thing other than whine, bitch and moan.

And since the General is ‘Whine’ and you’re ‘Bitch’ all I need to do is figure out who moan is, I’ll have a trifecta of local leftists.

But back to Goldy’s place.

His commenters jump right on top of their refound victimhood and first go into discussing illegal electioneering tactics so that the Repubs have a difficult time getting elected, and that is followed up by the demand that folks on the left arm themselves so as to be ‘equal’ to folks on the right.

What a nice group of folks we got up here, huh?

So go ahead, Goldy, keep on encouraging your readers to make stupid comments and stupid electoral decisions.

When the Dems and the Greens (aka: two faces of the same socialist coin) finally elect out all of the Repubs from Washington and decide it is now time to start repressing the folks who still vote that way with more and more threats and physical action like we saw during the last presidential campaign, we’ll see who the fascists truly are.

(Here’s a tip, no matter what Neiwert says, history shows us that you cannot be a fascist without first being a socialist.)

How Mao?

In India, the schools are being threatened to use a certain set of text books.

But not by the usual set from the so-called ‘Religion of Peace’,

The Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) has sent letters to primary school teachers in government-run rural schools in Hazaribagh and Palamau districts, instructing them to teach children about their ideology and the work they do for the welfare of the people.

The CPI-Maoist would supply the books.

The letter also threatens the teachers with dire consequences if the directive is not followed.

But wait, it gets worse.

In separate diktats issued in various districts, Maoists in Jharkhand have said their literature should be taught in schools and that each official should deposit Rs 5,000 for a contingency fund to tackle drought.

So use our books or die. And if you fall for that one, give us 5000 rupees too!

Give into this and they’ll only want more. Hell, pretty soon the Maoists will be killing tens of millions of people in some sort of revolution.

Oh wait, they’ve already done that.

RNS Quote of the Day

Progress cannot be achieved by forced privations, by squeezing a ‘Social Surplus’ out of starving victims. Progress can come only out of individual surplus, i.e., from the work, the energy, the creative over abundance of those men whose ability produces more than their personal consumption requires, those who are intellectually and financially able to seek the new, to improve on the known to move forward. In a capitalist society, where such men are free to function and to take their own risks, progress is not a matter of sacrificing to some distant future, it is part of the living present, it is the normal and the natural, it is achieved as and while men live and enjoy their lives.

Now consider the alternative – the tribal society, where all men throw their efforts, values, ambitions and goals into a tribal pool or common pot, then wait hungrily at its rim, while the leader of a clique of cooks stirs it with a bayonet in one hand and a blank check on all their lives in the other.

Winning Versus Losing

In what I believe to be one of the best articles against the whole ‘Withdrawl From Iraq’ argument from this country’s (D)efeatist (D)emocrats are waging, Ralph Peters tells us exactly what we would have to do to lose the war against terrorists,

How to Lose a War: by Ralph Peters

QUIT. It’s that simple. There are plenty of more complex ways to lose a war, but none as reliable as just giving up.

Increasingly, quitting looks like the new American Way of War. No matter how great your team, you can’t win the game if you walk off the field at half-time. That’s precisely what the Democratic Party wants America to do in Iraq. Forget the fact that we’ve made remarkable progress under daunting conditions: The Dems are looking to throw the game just to embarrass the Bush administration.

Peters Article found at Righty in a Lefty State

(D)emarkation found at The DANE’s place

And to give us some history as well as some tips on how to win this war, Rivrdog gives us this post,

War and Failure

I fought in a war that resulted in failure. The Viet-nam war. My brothers and I fought hard as individuals and units, but since there never was any cohesive strategy for advancing the battles to the enemy’s stronghold, we fought vicious battles that got us nowhere. Eventually the nation became tired of the fight and caved in to the “war IS failure” advocates, and we were forced to retire from the war, having accomplished nothing except a huge waste of personnel and some tactical evaluations.

snip

First, we fight an enemy who has proven capabilities for recruitment. The enemy has no shortage of soldiers. Currently, they are sending poorly trained troops into the field, but they are still sending them in an unending stream. This provides the perfect opportunity for the (REDUNDANCY ALERT!) antiwar press to piss and moan that we are sending an unending supply of OUR young men to slaughter. The same press won’t use their supposed knowledge of history to look up and see that no military force in modern times ever suffered 20-1 casualties (on the 20 side) and prevailed in a fight to the finish. Not one. Never happened. We have failed, as the side pursuing the war against Islamic terror, to properly inform our own people (or the rest of the world, most of whom could give a shit less) of our victories, so those under-informed people have begun to believe the antiwar press and disbelieve the leaders of the war.
