Like Christmas in May

A gift for all of you who wanted open season on the pirates of the east coast of the African continent!

Officials in Zapata are warning boaters on the waters of Falcon Lake to be on alert.

The alert comes after at least three pirate types of attacks within the past month.

Zapata County Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez says, “They have been victims of piracy and I dare say that word.  They have been robbed by people using AR-15’s or handguns to their heads.  It’s just not safe to go to the Mexican side anymore.”

Nobody has been injured in any of the reported attacks.

Here’s the map.

I’ve heard there is no bag limit if you get there before the Coasties do!

I hate to throw cold water on your hunting expedition, but as a former marine patrol Deputy, I’m here to tell you just how hard it is to shoot accurately out of a small boat (anything under 40 feet). Consider, that as you attempt to line up your sights, whatever type you have on your weapon, the boat moves under you, and if you are shooting at pirates on another small boat, so is their craft. You will NOT get accurate shot placement, so survival in such a gunfight means spray and pray, or closing to such a close range that minutes of angle make no difference. The Mexican druggies are known for going into a fight with plenty of ammo to spray at YOU.

If you have to engage because your engine won’t save you, engage with a shotgun at it’s maximum range. Have slugs and 00 buck, and have lots of both. You may get lucky and hit the helmsman, who is always your target, not those shooting at you in such a fight. Keep maneuvering your boat so as to provide a poorer target for the enemy.

BTW, you need well over a half-inch of FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic, aka “Fiberglass”) to stop a slow pistol round such as a .45acp. You are NOT going to stop a rifle round with your boat hull or whatever else it is you’re using for cover while you shoot it out with pirates.

My patrol craft were fast, and I planned to use the engines and radio as my first line of defense, always.

Oh, Caldobama (Caldaron + Obama; they make such a cute couple when they bash our national soverignty and second ammendment together) would just LOVE it if the unorganized maritime militia would step up to that challenge.
Of course Mexico could start its own guest worker program do the jobs Mexicans won’t do, like bringing in Blackwater/Xe to take care of the cartels.
