But they do occasionally hit gold. Video like this makes it hard to think that the GOP is serious about fiscal responsibility.Â It’s like listening to Democrats talk about freedom and choice while discussing laws to outlaw fats and smoking

On the surface, it does look like they are “fiscally irresponsible.” But, any convention is paid for by party donors, not tax payers directly (like Obama’s vacations, date to see a Broadway Show, extra days in Paris w/Michelle).

Anyways, they couldn’t hold their convention in say, Las Vegas, because Obama told them not to. On second thought, that would have been the perfect place to go! Michael Steele, you screwed up again!

This is politics, half of the game is appearances. They could have won an all expense paid business trip for everyone and their families from Publishers Clearinghouse, and it still would have looked bad.

Now, if they’d had the conference in somewhere cheap, like Detroit, that’d be different. Although then you’d probably have to deal with local protestors (plane tickets to Hawaii ain’t cheap).
