C-Day Minus Six

There have been discussions all over the blogosphere and the MSM about a “War on Christmas, but from what I’ve seen, it looks to be more of an “Insurgency Against Christmas.

Yes, there are individuals who make complaints against public displays of Christianity at this time of year and some of them are taken up by the ACLU and pushed forward, but if it was an actual ‘War’, the ACLU would be directing these people, not playing hall monitor for the libtards when they claim to be oppressed by a dead tree covered in baubles or by half-sized plastic figurines with lights in them standing over a manger. This should be classified as more of a ‘guerilla action’ than an actual organized war effort.

Here in Seattle, one gentleman had had enough and actually did more than bitch, moan and whine (which is about all I’ve seen out of anyone else) and organized a very small silent demonstration outside of downtown Seattle’s largest retail complex, Westlake Mall. Word got around and he ended up having dozens, if not hundreds of people show up and local business owners joining in, including one parking lot owner donating his 188 space lot to them for the day. His boss also ended up giving him the day off paid.

And what got him started on this? He heard about a local school ditching their ‘Giving Tree’ after a single parent complained. Good for him, but where were the parents whose children also go to that school? Did they organize a demonstration in support of the tree or demand the school district administration hold an emergency meeting to discuss the issue? No, those who could manage to come up with the gumption called the school district and complained and that is where it ended. What the hell did they expect to happen if that is all the support they could get off their asses and muster?

I’m about as sick of the “War on Christmas meme as the lefties are for the simple fact that there is a lot of talk, but very little action. The title was only selected because it is easy to say and remember, not because of actual facts, and we all know how annoying it is when the left pulls that crap.

Yes, I celebrate Christmas, but for the most part it is just because it is a tradition full of fun and family. If my family were Jewish, I’d celebrate Hanukah with them. I’m not a Christian and I don’t believe in the divine birth so I’m not celebrating the baby Jesus. If you want to, that’s fine with me, just as my piggybacking on the holiday should be fine with you.

I’m also as annoyed at the jackasses who force their minority opinions on the majority as the next person on the right side of the aisle, but I’m not going to fight someone else’s fight for them. if someone says “Happy Holidays” to me, I say “Merry Christmas” right back at them. If someone tells me that I can’t say “Merry Christmasâ€? to whom I choose, they’re stand a good chance of seeing my rude side. When people have tried this in the past, like telling me “I don’t celebrate Christmasâ€? or “Hello, I’m Jewishâ€?. My kind responses, respectively, were “Sucks to be you, don’t it?â€? and “Good for you. Wish me a Happy Hanukah then.â€? My rude responses would get me kicked off the internet.

When my ex-boss at my former place of employment told me I should say “Happy Holidays, I turned to her and said “No very sternly like you do to a dog and went back to what I was doing previously and that was the end of that.

If I had kids, I’d already be directly involved in the school and the district and a response to the jackasses would be so swift as to make their heads spin and their soy milk curdle.

Any less would be letting my child down.

But I don’t and I’m not about to do the grunt work for someone too lazy to do it themselves. If a school district wants to play reindeer games, I’ll let them. I’ve got very little stake in that field and I’m not about to waste my time there while someone who says they’re offended just sits around on their duff and complains about the school ‘removing Christmas’.

If this “War on Christmas trash talking without action crap pops up next year, I’m going to extremely pissed off to the point of me becoming a wart on the ass of those who talk but do nothing. I simply cannot stand whiny bitches.

    Couple of observations:

When your boss tried to peecee you and you just aid “no”, that’s one response, but in my last assignment for the Sheriff’s Office, I would run into these officious supervisors and had my way of dealing with them.

My usual response, after waiting patiently for their diatribe to end, would be to say “First Amendment” and grandly point my arm towards the Federal Courthouse across the plaza. That never failed to make an impression, because these PeeCee mavens are all taught to press the pc on us, but they are also afraid of federal lawsuits.

The overall “war on Christmas” thing is just a grumble from committed Christians who have seen their holy holiday denigrated and swept out of the public consciousness for years.

The times have changed for sure between the Christmas of my youth and today: I had mandatory participation in the school’s Christmas pageant, which had a religious theme, and I did’t attend a secular shool. Today, the kids are oppressed for even thinking about the holiday in religious terms.

I don’t consider myself a Christian, but I accept that Christian ideals founded this great nation, and if I’m to defend the original intent of the Founders, I have to buy the whole package, which includes following their Christian ideals.

    That’s the easy part.

The hard part is deciding when to oppose the establishment of religion by those who would forget that the Founders were all Christians, followed, fought for and established Christian principles, BUT DID NOT ESTABLISH THEIR RELIGION AS A REQUIREMENT FOR THOUGHT, ONLY FAITH.

That is the difference, the division between thought and faith. Those who can separate it are good citizens AND good Christians.

Those who can’t are really our enemies, no matter how much they smile and lie to us.

I absolutely agree that those who choose to belly-ache about things they perceive as unjust should also be willing to actually DO SOMETHING besides voice their opinion. If you don’t feel strongly enough about it to take action, maybe you shouldn’t have the right to complain. It reminds me of those who don’t take the time to get familiar with political issues or just politics in general, or even participate by voting, then bitch and moan whenever the government does ANYTHING. It’s easy to be vocal while at the same time leaving the action to “someone else”.

I am a born-again christian and I feel strongly about the whole Happy Holiday/Merry Christmas debate mainly because I believe it to be a “baby step” in the direction of systematic removal of all things Christian or faith based from our society. Those who are passionate about the right to bear arms should be able to relate as you get worked up when the Fed tries to reclassify weapons in order to facilitate a ban on them. To them, it is one more step towards the authorities waling into thier house with a court order and taking weapons out of the hands of law-abiding citizens with no ill intent at all.
