Guess who’s back. Back again.

The Gun Guy is back. Tell a friend.

You should really click on that link and see if that site reminds you of anything.

I’m pretty sure it will.

Remember, no using the ‘K’ word.

In fact, I’ve taken him out of the blogroll and substituted this one for it. If you have a blog, please do the same.

Big Ol’ Jet Airliner

Maybe I missed something, but this is pretty cool. Made especially for those who fly a lot.

Found at Just Some Poor Schmuck.

It must be a lifestyle or something

Found at TBIFOC.

In case you didn’t know, Laurence is in Houston and is planning to sit out Hurricane Rita, so keep your eyes peeled there over the weekend.

From Chris Baker, radio personality at KPRC 950 Houston

Caller: “I’m a bicyclist. I don’t have any transportation out of town.”

Chris Baker: “Well, you better get pedalin’, pal!”

Non-car owning people make me scratch my head.

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Fall bitches! Yep, the Autumnal Equinox has arrived (finally!).

My mostest favoritest season of the entire quad. No more blazing heat, no more long periods of sun exposure and no more goofy people driving around in open topped vehicular death machines.

At least not here in Washington.

It has had that autumn smell in the air for close to three weeks now here. That crisp cool smell that tells you that even though the sun is out, you won’t get much heat from it unless you are in its direct path. Fireplaces were getting fired up in my neighborhood just this last week.

In Washington, Fall brings wind, rain, sleet, and my personal favorite, fog. Most folks find these things annoying or dreary. Tough, I love every minute of it. I was born during ugly weather just south of Seattle and was raised in it. I own umbrellas, hats and coats with hoods and the folks that live here and bitch about it need to cope and go shopping.

The benches at the rage are sparsely populated after the ‘Hunter Sight-In Weekends’ are finished and I can shoot all day without having to keep one of my eyes on some chucklehead with unsafe gun handling skills.

The Soundboard: Music for Fall

As is mentioned above, I love this season. I even have music I save up for it.

This music isn’t something I can’t listen to any other time of the year, but it is especially poignant for fall: The cold temperatures, the wind, the moisture falling from the sky in its various forms just add to the mood of some songs and even some bands.

Like today’s band, Alice in Chains.

Wow does not describe their music very well, so let us look for another word.

Moody? Nope. Gloomy? Nope. Junkyrock? Nope.

Aha, I’ve got it: Mindf*ck.

Yep, that just about says it all.

Even Michele of A Small Victory agrees with me on this one, deeming AIC the band she would choose from this genre/era if she had to choose.

A recommend not to be taken lightly, if I do say so myself, since hers is the only music collection that I know of which would put mine to the test.

She is also fed up with the RnR Hall of Fame and is starting her own and is taking nominations. Who did I nominate, you might ask?

Well, Rush, of course, and then Alice in Chains.

So here we go with today’s tunage, something you probably won’t hear on the radio (cause that’s how I roll, donchaknow):

Rain When I Die – Alice in Chains

The lyrics for this one were penned by the now passed on Layne Staley. He died on April 5th, 2002 of a speedball overdose. Sadly, his corpse wasn’t discovered until two weeks later.

Oddly enough, or maybe prophetically, it did rain on the 5th, but not on the 4th or the 6th of that month.

Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain also died on April 5th a few years earlier, so you can imagine the weirdness that goes on here in Seattle around that time. I prefer to remember Staley on that day as neither Cobain or Nirvana impressed me that much.

Howdy Pardner!

Mr. Completely has the task for the new Pistol e-Postal Match up over at his place.

This month’s match is much more conventional, and is actually several matches in one.

As you can see, the name of the new match is “Jack-N-Jill”. Like previous matches, there will be a “Featured” class, but also just about anything else can be entered too.

This time, the featured class will be a team event! YUP! One guy and one lady comprises a team. Now, if you are thinking about grabbing the best shootin’ guy or gal you know, it’s not going to work that way, Sorry, no ringers!

Here’s how you select your team member. Start from the top of the list, and work your way down until you get a team-mate. Your team-mate must be opposite sex:

1. Spouse, girlfriend/boyfriend/ or significant other.

2. Member of your immediate family, father, mother, brother, sister, son or daughter.

3. A new or recently new shooter who you have been helping get into shooting.

Multiple entries will also be encouraged, and you can enter individually, too. You are not required to enter as a team, but you are encouraged to do so, and also enter individually too.

There’s a lot of flexibility here, so I’m sure you can all find a team-mate. Here’s a chance to get someone out to the range that normally wouldn’t go.

Hmmm, now who am I going to get as a shooting partner?

Don’t get me wrong, I love the Analog Wife, but she has trouble hitting the ground with a well aimed shot.

OK, she’s really much better than that, she’s just a bear to get to the range, but I’ll try to find a way to bribe her there.

Now it’s your turn.

Speaking of rangetime, take a looksee below the fold to sneak a peek at what I found last night

A Correction from Yesterday

The Staff at RNS (me) would like to make a correction from yesterday’s Son of Menage a Blog post:

Bride of Menage a Blog will not be seen today due to complications in booking.

Instead, the Bride’s brother’s friend’s sister’s hairstylist’s cousin twice-removed a Blog will be seen (sorry, but it was all we could get on such short notice).

We now join our regularly scheduled post, currently in progress below the fold.

The Magazine Rack Was Empty

With inspiration from Og the Neanderpundit’s most recent installment of ‘Crapper-Blogging’, key phrase “NOT A FART, NOT A FART, NOT A FART”, I bring you some info found on the back of a 12 Pack of ‘bathroom tissue’ this morning when I found the magazine rack in The Throne Room empty.

Safeway guarantees that your family will be satisfied with Softy Ultra tissue. If you are not, return the unused portion to your local store for a full refund.

I just had to wonder why they had to stress to bring in ‘the unused portion’.
