Catching Up

Howdy! How’s it going? It’s been a while.

Let’s see…where to begin?

Well, back a little over two weeks ago we were invaded by some script-kiddies masquerading as islamo-hackers, and their subesquent follow-up attacks kept the place shut off to the outside world for a bit, as you saw. I did what I could, but because I’m not trained or suited for that type of work I had to wait until a professional had some time available.

As most of you know, Craig at MTPolitics basically got the place set up with WordPress back in January. Unfortunately, he had already begun moving his family from one side of the state of Montana to the other when the invasion took place. While I did my best to stave off the follow-up attacks, the only reason you can read this now is because of Craig and his hard work.

For that, I thank him most humbly. He made it look so easy that I could slap my forehead for the next couple weeks. I knew the force was strong with him.

We’re currently looking at the who, what, where and how to see that it doesn’t happen again. But, if it does, be sure that I’m not just going to close the place down and let it rot. I’ll quit this when I want to, not when some cocksmoking tiddlywink tries to make me.

During the two weeks we were gone, I went just a little *twa-ang* what with not having an outlet to vent, and finally found myself asking SondraK, Headmistress for the Knowledge is Power Blog for a login to let some words fly.

And for her letting me post there, I am quite grateful. She has agreed to leave me a log-in there, jic. So if you little hateful bastards who tried to close down the Good Ship RNS are reading, you can’t shut me up. If you hit us again, I can just go over to KisP (where I’ll get two to three times the traffic, btw).

BTW, you can see the posts I did over thar here, here, here, and here.

And last, but certainly not least, I am very thankful for all the emails from you folks in the outside world, asking how it was going.

I have always said that I do this for me. I don’t care if I have ten visitors or ten thousand. That is why I don’t have a hit counter and rarely check my stats. My $400 a year to run this place is pretty damn cheap therapy, if you ask me.

But it was quite humbling to see the number of folks wondering how we were doing. Thankee all, it was appreciated.

So, what else have I been doing with my spare time besides erasing clogs of referral spam, you ask?

Let’s see: the wife and I bought new living room furniture; got some cherry tomato plant starts from the Analog Mom; bought and assembled a new bed for the spare bedroom; bought a used fridge & freezer for the garage to keep the Cokes, Beers and Beef cold; I bought another older Ford truck that I’ll be introducing in a couple weeks (his name is Fred); bought a couple long guns and rebought a handgun I never should have sold.

Just keeping the economy moving.

Oh yeah, I said yesterday that there’d be “musical accompaniment”, didn’t I? Well, the FTP server is acting up, so that’ll have to wait for now. But we’ll get caught up sooner than later on that subject.

So, what’s been going on with youse guyz?

They’re Doing Something Right

The ICE, that is.

Imagine my surprise when I opened my email from the Seattle Times this morning and read this story

Big surge in state residents seeking citizenship

Jackie Johnson came to the United States from Jamaica 24 years ago, green card already in hand.

Five years later, she was eligible for citizenship.

But the 40-something computer specialist, who works in downtown Seattle, never pursued it. It didn’t seem that important, she said.

Now, all this talk about immigration has made her reconsider. She has downloaded the citizenship application form and plans to fill it out.

…

Uncertainty over how Congress plans to reshape the nation’s immigration system is driving increasing numbers of legal permanent residents in Washington state, so-called green-card holders, to seek citizenship. They are among a record number of green-card holders doing so nationwide.

Good! Damn good.

I don’t care if they fear Jehovah, Muhammed or Ra, non-citizens need to fear the immigration agencies more. Lollygagging around with an application for citizenship for 19 years is a waste of our time.

The woman comes here in 1982, becomes eligible for citizenship in 1987, but “it didn’t seem that important”? Excuse me? The only reason it didn’t seem important was 1. She’s an idiot, and 2. She was already here.

I bet that a goodly number of the folks who were still in Jamaica these last 24 years wished they had the opportunity for US citizenship. But she just puts it in her purse like so much Kleenex.

Now that I think about it, if she waited so long, why doesn’t she just hand it off to someone who thinks of it as important?

Lets get the folks who want to be here signed up and have the rest hit the road.

Calling All Stupids

The Dems know that Gun Control issues are killing them, but they can’t gather up the intestinal fortitude to shake off groups like the Brady Bunch and VPC.

Hell, even the nitwits at Kos’ Kiddie Fun Farm can see that the Dems need to do that.

Take a looksee here. The diary itself is laughable “As we all know, the NRA has always had a phobia that the government would take away their guns.  Well, there have been many reports–I don’t know how believable–that the Federal Government initiated gun confiscation of law-abiding citizens in New Orleans as part of the attempt to restore law and order in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.”

He doesn’t know how believable the reports are? Maybe he should have spent some time on the sane side of the sphere and watched a few of the videos that came out around then, instead of pounding his meat at the dKos harping to the ‘Bush Hates Black People’ Beat.

But if you have a moment, run through the comments. It may surprise you that there are some knowledgable gun owners on Planet Kos, though they’re not smart enough to know what danger they’re flirting with, wanting to elect the likes of Gore and Kerry.

The Al Qaida Intelligence Service (aka: The NYT)

The title phrase was blatantly stolen from the Ace of Spades post here.

I keep reading the MSM and the left wing making excuses for the AQIS’s release of info on the SWIFT program, like this Seattle Times Editorial.

They claim that, to quote the above editorial: “The press’s role in a democracy is to show voters what their representatives are doing. That is exactly what this story did and follows a number of other reports about how this administration is acting with little or no oversight from Congress.”

But if the administration was talking about tracking the terrorists money trail since right after September 11th, another common excuse by the left, than what exactly did releasing this report accomplish other than to inform the terrorists of our methods?

I’m just a bit mystifyed here, you see, because on the one hand, Bush was telling us he was doing it, so why did the AQIS feel the need to follow up. I knew we were doing it, you knew we were doing it, the terrorists knew we were doing it, so why was the disclosure of EXACTLY HOW we were doing it necessary.

I doubt any of the faithful RNS readers can bend their minds into the knots necessary to answer that question, as it takes both a lack of IQ, an acute case of Bush Derangement Syndrome and complete hypocrisy on foreign policy.

I spent a couple days of the RNS downtime asking it of liberals who I though were up to the task, but they just replied with hyperbole. Typical.

These are the people I have to live next to

Click on this link.

Don’t worry, it is completely harmless. It just goes to the official website for the Washington 45th Legislative District Democrats.

They are only a State LD, yet every issue flashing through their three-cell banner is a national one. Not only that, every statement reads like something straight off the Daily Kos or the Democratic Underground.

Coincidence?

That we’ve come back in time for the celebration of the 230th birthday of the Declaration of Independence?

Maybe. Possibly.

Either way, I don’t care, I’m just glad we’re back up.

There’ll be a full account of the last couple weeks on the morrow (with musical accompaniment), but in the interim, I would like to wish each and everyone of y’all the best 4th of July holiday possible.

Eat, Drink and Be Merry.

Most importantly, don’t blow your fingers off, you’ll need those.

Have you seen this man?

100singh.jpg

His name is Harchand Singh and he is believed to be travelling around the Pacific NW with a 17yr old female.

He is one of the leaders of a human smuggling for forced protsitution ring.

Let me give just a little bit of, what I’ll call, “Background”:

At around 0200 on a Sunday night about a month ago, a man hears people outside his dining room window, looks out and all he can see are the tops of heads on the other side of his hedge. He calls 911 and shortly thereafter a King County Sheriff’s Deputy shows up.

As the deputy gets out of his car, four women swarm him, all talking at once in a language he doesn’t understand. They are dirty, scraped up and wearing barely any clothes. He calms them down, gives them the big wool blanket from his cruiser’s trunk, and calls his Sergeant (dude is normally quite levelheaded, but he said that this situation was one of the most unnerving things he has ‘on-viewed’ during his time behind the badge).

The Sergeant arrives and they each put two of the women in the back of their cruisers and transport them to the station house. When they arrive, they call for language assistance since none of the women speak english. The women are given robes and put into a holding room for their safety, and shortly thereafter an interpreter arrives.

The interpreter tells the Sergeant that each of these women were brought into the Seattle area from Vancouver BC, Canada by a pair of men who had, once they reached a residence near where they were found, repeatedly raped the women before they were finally able to escape.

Detectives were called in, a judge was woken up, and arrests were made before sun-up, at which time the fibbies and the RCMP were called and filled in. The story linked above fills it in from there with news of 15 arrests stemming from finding these women.

Chalk one up for the good guys.

But this Harchand guy is the top asshole involved and he is still on the loose, and he has a young girl with him.

In a twisted coincidence, the house that the women were held captive in is a block from where I went to high school.

Tell Me

The first thing that comes to mind when you hear of an organization called “Reclaim Democracy”.

If you said ‘leftist front group’ or ‘socialists’, you guessed correctly.

For everyone else, read the blockquote and/or follow this link:

Grading corporations on living wages, union rights and the amount of money they give back to the community would put the city on shaky legal ground if challenged in court.

Those details are part of a 37-page summary (Olympia) city officials released Wednesday to explain why they abandoned a proposed “Community Values Ordinance.”

The law would have based a corporation’s ability to operate on social and moral criteria. It had the potential to be far-reaching, affecting everything from Wal-Mart and McDonald’s to Dairy Queen and Old Navy.

(snip)

Under the proposed “Community Values Ordinance” pitched by a local group last summer, a report card would have been used to grade businesses on whether they discriminate against employees, pay a living wage, pay overtime, let workers unionize and create a “town square” where people could assemble and exercise free speech.

Businesses scoring below 50 percent would have had to shut down within two months. Those scoring between 50 percent and 89 percent would be put on probation to raise their score or face closure.

The proposal targeted national and multinational chains, not regional chains or mom-and-pop stores, proponents said.

(snip)

The local group that authored and pitched the proposed law – the South Sound Chapter of Reclaim Democracy, which opposes bad corporate behavior – could not be reached for comment Wednesday.

That the Olympia City Council even thought to try and make this happen shows you just what kind of moonbattery passes for normal in that town.

As for ‘Reclaim Democracy’, here is their website. While they have a decent eye for not sounding too overtly socialist, without even scratching the surface too deeply, you can see that they place Wal-Mart at the front of everything that is wrong with America.

One of their main tenets is to “reverse the precedent of equating political spending with Constitutionally-protected free speech”. In fact, it is their number two from a list of three.

When a city council lets groups like this suggest ways to make law, you can almost get your head around why they delcared themselves a ‘Nuclear Free Zone’ a couple years back, which caused them to refuse port accomodations to the nuclear powered submarine, USS Olympia not too long ago.

But they support the troops!

I guess that we can just chalk this up as another in a long list of stupid liberal acts from the City of Olympia. I just wish their act was entertaining.

I don’t know about them

But I’ve never wanted my ass kicked this badly.

It seems that the local leftists are either getting brave or getting very stooopid.

By now, I’m sure you’ve heard about one Lt. Ehren Watada, the first US Army officer to refuse deployment from the very local Ft. Lewis. For those of you who haven’t, the Heartless Libertarian, also from our very local Fort Lewis, has written about it and provides some more links here.

The moonbats at the Seattle IMC are planning on standing in front of the Fort Lewis Main Gate with a banner to show their support for Watada tomorrow. I’ll be doing a ‘Surplus Store Crawl’ around that area tomorrow afternoon and if they’re still out (and able to walk) I’ll try and get some pictures for y’all.
