The Al Qaida Intelligence Service (aka: The NYT)

The title phrase was blatantly stolen from the Ace of Spades post here.

I keep reading the MSM and the left wing making excuses for the AQIS’s release of info on the SWIFT program, like this Seattle Times Editorial.

They claim that, to quote the above editorial: “The press’s role in a democracy is to show voters what their representatives are doing. That is exactly what this story did and follows a number of other reports about how this administration is acting with little or no oversight from Congress.”

But if the administration was talking about tracking the terrorists money trail since right after September 11th, another common excuse by the left, than what exactly did releasing this report accomplish other than to inform the terrorists of our methods?

I’m just a bit mystifyed here, you see, because on the one hand, Bush was telling us he was doing it, so why did the AQIS feel the need to follow up. I knew we were doing it, you knew we were doing it, the terrorists knew we were doing it, so why was the disclosure of EXACTLY HOW we were doing it necessary.

I doubt any of the faithful RNS readers can bend their minds into the knots necessary to answer that question, as it takes both a lack of IQ, an acute case of Bush Derangement Syndrome and complete hypocrisy on foreign policy.

I spent a couple days of the RNS downtime asking it of liberals who I though were up to the task, but they just replied with hyperbole. Typical.
