Robert over The Truth About Guns posts up about the crappy tunage used to accompany shooting videos. I wholeheartedly concur.

In fact, my last shooting video (that was oh so very long ago) was an effort to break that tide, but ultimately failed. I now make sure I turn off the sound before clicking on any shooting video that may have music over the top.

If you’re going to make a shooting video, put some decent music in it. I’ve listened to enough music to know that “tough guys” don’t listen to or post “tough” music. If the video is good enough, and I’m not talking about the production values, then we’ll all know just how tough you are with out, as Robert calls it, the “thrashchainspeedrottweilermetal”.

And if you’re worried about either the band/record co. complaining about the song being in the video and/or the video’s host yanking it, don’t be a wuss. Either use a host that ignores record label requests, like I did, or be prepared to change the music and repost it.

One of these damn days, bands/record co’s will figure out that the only bad publicity is no publicity.

…but there’s just something wrong with the assertion that noted pick-up-artist scribe Heartiste (fka Roissy) and, of all people, H.P. Lovecraft, are of like minds about women. Unless, of course, you are of the school that holds HPL was a misogynist; I think he was simply terminally shy, which is a different thing entirely.

The Cthulhu=symbolic female genitalia debate I shall avoid here entirely.

Geez, you can find anything on the internet.

Astronomers have spotted an exotic planet that seems to be made of diamond racing around a tiny star in our galactic backyard. carbon. Because it is so dense, scientists calculate the carbon must be crystalline, so a large part of this strange world will effectively be diamond.

“The evolutionary history and amazing density of the planet all suggest it is comprised of carbon a massive diamond orbiting a neutron star every two hours in an orbit so tight it would fit inside our own Sun,” said Matthew Bailes of Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne.

Lying 4,000 light years away, or around an eighth of the way towards the center of the Milky Way from the Earth, the planet is probably the remnant of a once-massive star that has lost its outer layers to the so-called pulsar star it orbits.

DeBeers immediately claimed the planet and have begun calculating the number of carats.
