Need Help

Hey,

I’m looking for a model for the “Bellicose Womens Brigade website.”:http://www.nukevet.com/mt/bwb I hope to re-design that site in the near future, and am looking for a “spokeswoman” to serve as the clickable image to take you there. Any photo considered, as long as you own it and are willing to let me use it.

I think I have most things fixed now – although you may have to re-register for comments access. I really loosened up the rules for comments recently, since I close them after 7 days now anyways.

Hmmmmmmm, yep

I broke things in a big way, trying to set up an archive system. Archives are over “here.”:http://www.nukevet.com/rnsarchive

I’m not sure when/if things will get back to normal around here.

Welcome them back!

You may remember back on November 15, 2003 Ms. SondraK and her husband JR, Raging Dave and myself attended a Support the Troops Rally as the 81st Armored Brigade shipped off to Iraq.

If you do not remember, please follow the link and enjoy the pictures.

Well, the 81st is coming home!

This Saturday at 11am, at the same location we waved them goodbye, Exit 122 off I-5, Overpass at Madigan Hospital/Camp Murray there will be a welcome home rally.

Ms. Sondra is already sure she will be there. I am currently trying to open up a window out of my schedule so that I can also attend. If you can be there, let me know. Parking near there is scarce so we might be able to meet somewhere and carpool in.

Crying Wolf

The following is a quote from an article in the Arizona Daily Star written about Arizona House Bill 2666 about concealed carry in the state:

The House of Representatives voted Tuesday to let people carry weapons – including guns, grenades, rockets, mines and sawed-off shotguns – into schools, polling places and nuclear plants if they claim they’re only trying to protect themselves.

And like most of the firearms ignorant media, it has the highest amount of shock value that the autor thought he could get away with.

Kevin Smith at The Smallest Minority has a few pithy comments about this type of scare tactic at his place.

Another media tactic that makes me grind my teeth is when, awash in their ignorance, the media exaggerates on weapon types.

Recently, a two time felon and white supremacist was arrested for possession and the sale of weapons. There were close to 100 firearms in his house. He was also charged with possession of a fully automatic weapons, two illegally modified AK-47’s to be exact.

But when the local TV media used this story to top their evening news cycles, the number of “machine guns” had reached over 100.

And of course, if you didn’t listen carefully to the bottom of their news cycle the next night, you wouldn’t know that there were only two of them. And if you are like 70% of the public, you wouldn’t have known the difference anyway.

On a side note, none of the local left wing blogs that reported that story liked me stopping by and pointing out that none of the gun control laws, local or national, had been able to stop a two time felon and white supremacist from obtaining an gun collection that included illegal weapons.

He was begging for it

Guy Herbert even titled his post at Samizdata “Begging to be yanked out of context…”

So here I go with the RNS quote of the Day

So long as our Government takes us for fools, we have every reason to take them for liars.

Now head on over to Samizdata and get the context.

My, Aren’t They Touchy!

Congressman Jim Gibbons (R)-Nevada was speaking at a private function and made the a point about those on the left going to Iraq to act as human sheilds for Saddam Hussein.

“I say we tell those liberal, tree-hugging, Birkenstock-wearing, hippie, tie-dyed liberals to go make their movies and their music and whine somewhere else,” Gibbons said to another burst of applause.

He said that they are the same people who wanted to go to Iraq and become human shields for the enemy.

“I say it’s just too damn bad we didn’t buy them a ticket,” Gibbons said.

Laughter rippled through the room, mingled with more applause.

AND of course, the Klueless Kos Klan is up in arms about the showing off of their cohorts stupidity.

This kind of hate speech has no place in civil society. By engaging in such base commentary, Rep. Gibbons has declared himself unfit to hold office and must resign.

Hey DavidNYC, you know what pal, it isn’t my fault you took sides with the group that supported a dictator when they saw that America had laid its crosshiars on him.

I can guarantee you that if Bush started getting antsy towards Castro, you and yours would high-tail it to Havana and do the very damn same thing for Castro.

Get over it

Home

In the closing chapter of the tale of Sgt. Adam Plumondore, Rivrdog writes that Adam has made his way home,

It is my distinct honor to present this report of the last stage of Sgt. Adam Plumondore’s journey Home. I have felt the honor, as I met Adam’s stalwart family, as well as officers, NCOs and men of the Army. I have also felt the aching heart that goes with saying a final adieu to a hero of our time.

Adam, you are home. Rest easy. The Nation of Riflemen guard your spirit and your memory now, and we take this duty for Eternity.

There were no dry eyes. I know what “flashbacks” are now. The depth of my regret for the loss of Adam stirred something here that I haven’t felt before.

You see, Adam was my brother. My brother-in-arms. That means something, if you’ve been to war.

Welcome Home Sgt. Plumondore. You may rest in peace after a job well done. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Mission Accomplished

The men and women of the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier group are now in American waters after completeing their tour that included a relief mission in the Indian Ocean following the Dec. 26th 2005 tsunami.

The aircraft have landed safely in San Diego as have some of the group’s Guided Missle Cruisers. The Lincoln will be making a quick stop there and then head up here to her home port of Everett.

When they arrive, I’ll try to remember to link to the local coverage.

The Horrors of a Liberal Arts Degree

So you do well enough in school to be able to get accpeted at the University of Massachusetts-Amhurst but you didn’t learn enough real-world knowledge to know better than to not major in a useless course of study.

This is your brain on Women’s Studies:

The Constitution was ratified with the nineteenth Amendment, yet the Declaration of Independence remains the same. Women now have the legal right to vote but they are not entitled to “certain unalienable rights … among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” The Declaration of Independence provide these three rights to “all men,” with no mention of women. Now, one may argue that women are legally given these rights as citizens of the United States.

If women were granted these three rights, I doubt that there would be a gender gap in wage earnings, violence against women, unsafe abortions and substantially more women than men in poverty; these ugly realities severely undercut women’s right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

OK, That is actually Samantha Sharac’s brain on Women’s Studies, but you get the picture.

Mz. Sharac is still angry about Harvard President Lawrence Summer’s theory about men and women being genetically different pertaining to the study of hard science and she wrote this insipid screed for the UM-A student newspaper, The Daily Collegian.

Ravenwood found it originally and he proceeds to ride Mz. Sharac, oops I mean Mz. Sharac’s ignorance of history, like a dime store pony.

A 50x drink alert is in effect if you follow the link.

Friends don’t let friends major in Liberal Arts.
