Q: How do you make Holy Water?
A: Boil the Hell out of it.

Dumb Idea #1:
Yesterday, Senate Democrats came up with this item called ‘The Nelson Amendment’
It is the sense of the Senate that Congress should reject any Social Security plan that requires deep benefit cuts or a massive increase in debt.
As it states, this is not a binding item, but it gives the Dems a PR victory since all on their side and five RINOs voted for it.
But read it one more time.
It is the sense of the Senate that Congress should reject any Social Security plan that requires deep benefit cuts or a massive increase in debt.
So now, not only is there ‘No Crisis’ in Social Security, but anything done to strengthen it goes against their resolution.
Basically, this shows that the Dems are unwilling to do anything with Social Security since you will almost exclusively have to cut benefits or increase the debt to solidify it. The only other option is to raise the rate of SSI contributions (aka: raise taxes) or raise the income limit cap (aka: raise taxes).
What do you know, the Dems want to raise taxes again. Some things never change.
Dumb Idea #2:
The Dems are threatening to attempt to shut down the government over Bush’s judicial nominees.
Personally, I would be happy with the government shut down. It didn’t work well for the Repubs in the early 90’s and it will backfire dramatically for the Dems in 05.
Add to that THE GOVERNMENT IS CLOSED FOR BUSINESS!
I see a win, win, win here people!
Kim du Toit links to this item, reportedly from a meeting in 1993 held by Handgun Control Inc. that lists their plans for nationwide disarmament in the near future (relative to 1993).
I smell something fishy. Does anyone know where this came from or was found? I know that I have seen it before, but I do not remember its history.
This thing is just too perfect, too exact and too ‘just what we needed’.
There are a couple points where the language sounds like I wrote them in satire of Handgun Control Inc. and/or the Brady Bunch.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d love for this thing to be legit. But am loath to use it in a discussion/debate without a full vetting and then get burned. I have never lost a discussion/debate on the subject of the Second Amendment/gun control since my freshman high school debate crew, I won’t lose one now due to sloppy research.
Please, help a brother out here.
Actually, elevator pitches from Democrats.
For those who aren’t familiar with sales/promotional lingo, an “Elevator Pitch is when someone trying to sell you something gives you a quick one or two sentences that are impossible to deny or disagree with. Once they have you nodding your head, the hit you with a couple more sentences that are slightly less logical but still agreeable.
An example would be:
“Do you want to have your pediatrician be one of the best in the country? Of course you do.
“So come on by Dr. Smith’s office at 123 Main St. and we’ll get your children signed up for a full check up on our new patient special.
You see, they have put into your head that this doctor is a good doctor who just came into town. If you are looking for a new doctor, they’ve got you ready to stop on by his office, even though you know nothing of his qualifications or whether he is accepted by your insurance or how much this ‘new patient special’ is going to cost. Heck, for all you know, this guy could be a voodoo priest.
But guess what, you’ll go to the office anyway. And that is what they want.
This is the type of thing the Democrats are working on. They are absolutely positive that one of the reasons they lost is because they didn’t have a good enough ‘Elevator Pitch’.
I wrote about the Klueless Kos Klan making the search for one of these into sort of a Klas Project back in January.
The Happy Carpenter has found one of these pitches and goes about dissecting in a rather unfriendly way.
You want to see something like that, right? Of course you do.
Yesterday I wrote about the EU economy being 20 years behind America’s. I also let it be know that they were only 20 years behind us if everything remained the same as it is now.
Well, here is another report that the variables are changing for the EU and not in a good way.
Lower wage costs and less regulation in eastern Europe are luring U.S. manufacturers away from Germany, according to a new survey conducted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany and the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Despite the current government’s welfare and labor reforms, countries in eastern Europe continue to gain ground on Germany in the race to attract investment from U.S. companies.
Eastern Europe has become the most important region to invest in for 26 percent of the 70 U.S. companies based in Germany who took part in the annual survey released on Tuesday. Last year only 13 percent listed eastern Europe as their top investment area. Sixty-five percent of the 50 largest U.S. companies in Germany based on sales participated in the survey, including Ford, Procter & Gamble and Coca-Cola.
Production in particular is being moved to eastern European countries, especially in the automobile and industrial goods sector. But services such as call centers and information technology departments are also being moved out of Germany.
Now the bulk of these companies are already established in Europe, so there is no way to legitimately cry ‘OMG! They’re Outsourcing!’ And even if there were, the items produced over there are either staying over there or are benefiting us here. So we’ll have none of that.
This is going to just slay the western EU countries and their already high unemployment rate.
I still give the Euro trinket coin 5 years until it becomes the Peso.

But enough joking around.
A report from Friday out of Brussels concurred that the EU economy is 20 years behind America’s.
Far from being a force to be reckoned with, Europe’s fascination with socialism has them so far behind us that they will quite possibly never recover. The reported 20 year gap is based on the assumption that the variables will stay the same, which they won’t.
Remember Kyoto? They all signed it and we didn’t.
A report from Canada yesterday is scaring their government officials and their citizens now that they see exactly how much their signing on the dotted line will cost them in real Canadaian money (never to be confused with real American money).
Think Billions.
Add to the above facts, the revolts happening from people in countries such as France when the government tries to pull itself out of the quicksand by up-sizing the work week hours or down-sizing welfare benefits and you have the formula for economic decline.
So to all those who are trading in their US Dollars for Euros; I’ll give you 5 more years until your trinket coins aren’t worth a Canadian dollar. And I’ll give you 8 more years before you are broke and are pumping my gas for tips.
You have got to read this and go tell a leftie to apologize for believing Wilson despite an abundance of evidence to the contrary.
I wonder what their excuse for “The Plame Outing non-controversy will be now.

People in Illinois should be worried about ARMED judges.
After the shooting in an Atlanta courtroom last week, Illinois State Representative Larry Bomke is drafting a bill that will allow judges and magistrates to carry firearms in the courtroom.
So now, instead of just the policing officials being allowed to pack heat in the halls of justice, the guy sentencing people will have a firearm AND YOU STILL WON’T.
Does this sound elitist to anyone else but me?
OK, you can start worrying about those activist judges again.

If you didn’t check out the Carnival of Cordite over the weekend, today would be a good time to do so. I’ve actually got my Boomershoot rifle in the Gun Pr0n section.
Kevin Baker of The Smallest Minority is doing some impressive handloading for his AR. If I wasn’t set in my mind about selling all my AR gear I’d ask him about it.
And speaking of AR’s, MWG Company is giving away free five and ten round AR-15 magazines for linking to their site. For any bloggers interested, you should step up pretty quickly before this ends.
Like I said, I’m getting out of the AR business so I won’t be accepting any AR mags, but I’m definitely adding one of their badass teardrop 50rnd 22LR mags to my list of necessary accessories for my Ruger 10/22.
Y’all at MWG will be hearing from me shortly.
