Dumb Idea #1:
Yesterday, Senate Democrats came up with this item called ‘The Nelson Amendment’
It is the sense of the Senate that Congress should reject any Social Security plan that requires deep benefit cuts or a massive increase in debt.
As it states, this is not a binding item, but it gives the Dems a PR victory since all on their side and five RINOs voted for it.
But read it one more time.

So now, not only is there ‘No Crisis’ in Social Security, but anything done to strengthen it goes against their resolution.
Basically, this shows that the Dems are unwilling to do anything with Social Security since you will almost exclusively have to cut benefits or increase the debt to solidify it. The only other option is to raise the rate of SSI contributions (aka: raise taxes) or raise the income limit cap (aka: raise taxes).
What do you know, the Dems want to raise taxes again. Some things never change.
Dumb Idea #2:
The Dems are threatening to attempt to shut down the government over Bush’s judicial nominees.
Personally, I would be happy with the government shut down. It didn’t work well for the Repubs in the early 90’s and it will backfire dramatically for the Dems in 05.
Add to that THE GOVERNMENT IS CLOSED FOR BUSINESS!
