Getting Paid to Hold a Sign

No, I haven’t quit my job or been fired and taken up the profession of “Sandwichboard Advertizing Specialist. Although, if the money was right and they issued an iPod along with the sign, I might think about.

I am speaking of the left wing’s use of paid professional protesters at events.

While traveling through the Southwest a few weeks ago promoting Social Security reform, the White House team encountered a group of about a dozen protestors outside an event in Albuquerque.

“There were twelve to fifteen of them outside. They were holding signs and heckling us as we went into the event. I didn’t think much of it, because you see this sort of thing happens almost anytime you are traveling for town hall type events.

But what happened next is what caught our source’s attention:

“I was walking through the Dallas airport with some colleagues and one of them recognized two of the same protestors we had seen outside the event in Albuquerque. We had some extra time, so we decided to talk to them. They were very polite and explained to us they had just come from protesting an event nearby. One of them very quickly identified themselves as professional protestors.

“Not that they just liked to protest, but that they actually got paid by liberal interest groups to travel the country protesting. Here they were, sitting in the airport TGI Friday’s having a burger and getting ready to travel to New Orleans for another protest. They were good kids and wanted to talk. We tried discussing some of the benefits of Social Security reform. They listened, but weren’t too interested. Not because they had opposing views, they just said they weren’t too educated on the details. They even admitted they didn’t know who it was they were going to protest in New Orleans.

If the NRA or the GOA or the CCRKBA would match my current salary, I would love to have this job. As it is, I can only go the local events, which are held rarely.

It’s a mystery

John at Some Poor Schmuck finds his local paper spreading envirowhacko propaganda as real news.

The Oregonian:

A study of dust taken from 70 U.S. houses, including 10 in Oregon, found traces of possibly unhealthy chemicals, according to environmental activists who funded the study.

The study from The Oregon Environmental Council

A study of common household dust in 70 homes from seven states including Oregon was released today, revealing a variety of hazardous chemicals that leach from everyday products. The Oregon dust samples had the highest levels of three chemical classes compared to the homes tested in the other states.

And here is the mystery; while both of these items are available for viewing online, neither of them links to the actual study. Hell, the OEC doesn’t mention any of the other organizations who helped fund the study, the lab that did the testing or even the names of scientists who did the work.

So I have two questions:

Is there even really a study if no one is willing to fess up to the results?

Why is a “journalist reporting on a story with so much missing information?

Oh, that left wing media!

But look at their test scores!

Just like castro’s “100% Literacy line is complete BS, so is the one that Canadian students test higher than American students and that the US should switch to an education system that, like Canada, spends more on education than on National Defense.

Nevermind the fact that you and I are paying for the bulk of Canada’s defense, but take a look at the education some of these students are getting.

Province to investigate school after student’s anti-Semitic report: Ministry responds to fear of Islamic schools becoming ‘incubators of hate’

Ontario Education Minister Gerard Kennedy launched an investigation yesterday into the “deeply disturbing” situation at the Abraar Islamic School after two teachers were suspended for their involvement in a young student’s writing project, which glorified martyrdom and violence against Jews.

Yes, I know this is a private school, but can you think of the last time a private Catholic school was investigated for its teachers promoting violence against Lutherans?

I would really like to see the test scores of this school versus a Canadian public school and an American public school of similar size and scope. What are those kids really learning?

Happy Easter All

Yesterday, after I got home from finding the range closed for the day, the Sandman came along and whupped my ass until it was dark. Which is really too bad because I really wanted to shoot and I was thoroughly enjoying the typical Seattle weather while I was out in it. That is part of the reason I live here.

I did not notice any signs saying the range would be closed for the holiday, so I am going to try and put in some triggertime this morning before driving off to the Analog Mom’s house for some home cooked tasty stuffs.

As to my question on whether the item sent to me by Rivrdog was true or not, RNS reader “Just A Goober handed off a link to Snopes who says that the base story is true, but that there have been a few embellishments in the current version. Thank you ‘Goober’.

I do remember the story now, though only faintly. 15 years and loads of embelishments to the story are what threw me off. But oh well, the criminal did get what he deserved.

I’ll be back tomorrow with my usual ranty goodness, but I’d like to leave with something I am creeped out over.

Hit this link to Nature.Com and watch the octopus pretend it is a coconut and WALK ON TWO LEGS!

Public Service: Day 2

If you tuned in yesterday, you saw one of my very innovative students majoring in Fanny Economics doing her public service work for the semester. The student I will be talking about today is only slightly less innovative.

She got connected to the American Milk Council and asked if she could come up with one of those billboard ads you see along the hyways and by ways across America.

They of course said yes and she proceeded to spend her free time trying to decided on the format of the ad, excited that it could potentially be seen by millions of people across the country.

After a week, she submitted this ad,

Saturday Quickie

I’m off to the range again this rainy and blustery Seattle day.

We have been short of airborn H2O this year so far, so I am not going to complain, especially since this is typical March weather for the area and I feel we’ve been pretty lucky as of late for the nice weather.

I got a new toy in the mail yesterday that I’ll show off tomorrow after I’m done playing with it today. Its not uber-kewl, but it seems rather neato to me.

I also got my ammo shipment of PMC 308 168gr Sierra MatchKing to play with, so guess what I’ll be shooting today.

UPDATE: Then again, maybe not. If I would have paid more attention to their website I would have noticed that they rifle range was closed all day today for a CMP workshop. Oh well, there is always tomorrow.

I want to leave you with something I got emailed to me from Rivrdog. He doesn’t really trust it’s validity so he asked me. I have never heard about it, so now I will ask all of you if you know anything about the event.

The following mind-boggling attempt at a crime spree in Washington USA appeared to be the robber’s first (and last), due to his lack of a previous record of violence, and his terminally stupid choices:

1. His target was H&J Leather & Firearms, A gun shop specializing in handguns.

2. The shop was full of customers – firearms customers.

3. To enter the shop, the robber had to step around a marked police patrol car parked at the front door.

4. A uniformed officer was standing at the counter, having coffee before work. Upon seeing the officer, the would-be robber announced a hold-up, and fired a few wild shots from a .22 target pistol. The officer and a clerk promptly returned fire, the police officer with a 9mm Glock 17, the clerk with a .50 Desert Eagle, assisted by several customers who also drew their guns, several of whom also fired, The robber was pronounced dead at the scene by Paramedics. Crime scene investigators located 47 expended cartridge cases in the shop. The subsequent autopsy revealed 23 gunshot wounds. Ballistics identified rounds from 7 different weapons. No one else was hurt in the exchange of fire.

It supposedly happened in my home state but doesn’t list a town or even the name of the store, so I am taking it as an urban myth.

Even though I wished it would happen at my favorite retailer of firearms. Heck, I’d like it to happen at my favorite grocery store.

Public Service: Day 1

Good Weekend All!

Professor Booty once again at the keyboard. I just want to let you all know, during this holiday weekend, that my students aren’t just models, they are also dedicated public servants.

Each of my students meust perform 10 hours of community service per sememster in order to get a passing grade. This service can be any number of things, but it has to be approved through my office. I have had students work in the nursery of the local hospital, do anti-drunk driving spots at events and donate their time to soup kitchens.

This last semester, one of my students started up something truly original that I believe she may be able to turn into at least a part time money making profession.

He’s Got Questions, We’ve Got Answers

By now you have probably seen the list of questions that were asked by Canadian, Matthew Good. Karol at Alarming News has answered them, Emperor Misha has answered them and now I will answer them in my own special way.

Q-1) How come so many of your citizens thought that Saddam Hussein had something to do with 9/11?

A-1) Because when a group of people attack your country screaming ‘Death to America’ and another group of people stand next to them screaming the same thing, it is easy to get them confused? More on this in later answers.

Q-2) How come so many of your citizens know so little about other places? I’ve met a lot of Americans and only three of them knew that Ottawa was the capital of Canada, and most of them had college degrees.

A-2) Why the hell should we give a rats ass about a trivia question answer like the capital of Canada? At least until we annex your country for the overdue list of fees pertaining to the provision of military protection for Canada for 50 years.

Q-3) How come so many of your citizens know nothing about the history of US foreign and covert policy? Why aren’t they taught about American involvement in places like El Salvador, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Iraq, Iran, and a very long list of other places around the world?

A-3) Because they were ‘covert’. Leftists lying about supposed ‘atrocities’ committed while ignoring those of the communist supported armies is nothing more than hypocrisy.

Q-4) How come most of your citizens supported the invasion of Iraq? Is it because they didn’t have all the facts or because they just wanted to see someone pay for 9/11 and were open to suggestions?

A-4) We’d been being very nice to Iraq since the 1991 armistice and Americans were tired of play friendly with that jackass.

Q-5) After the world found out that there weren’t any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and President Bush announced that he was calling off the search for them, why didn’t your citizens demand that President Bush be impeached? After all, they tried to impeach Bill Clinton for lying about getting a blow job – and no one was even killed because of that.

A-5) Because even Canada thought Hussein had WMD. Hell, Hussein’s generals thought they had WMD.

And speaking of ignorance Matt, we didn’t just TRY to impeach Clinton, we DID impeach him. For someone who is calling Americans ignorant, you sure don’t seem to know squat. But then again, you’re Canadian, so I guess we have to forgive you.

Q-6) How come some Americans think these sorts of questions are bad?

A-6) Because they’re ignorant Canadian questions. You don’t pay taxes here and benefit from our citizens taxes. Why do you get to ask any questions?

Q-7) How come your citizens don’t care that the CIA and the Department of Defense don’t have to disclose information to them, even though the Constitution says that they do?

A-7) Same as #3. American national security trumps their reporting responsibilities as was found Constitutional by the SCOTUS during the 1930’s and every other time the question about security disclosures has arrived at their benches.

I understand that you and yours wouldn’t understand about things like the rule of law. After all, your province of Quebec is going to allow your immigrant population to put natives on trial under Sharia religious law in the coming months.

Q-8) You make more weapons than anyone else in the world. How come America?

A-8) Because we’re good at it.

Q-9) How come it’s legal to own an assault rifle but two men or two women can’t get married?

A-9) Because the right to keep and bear arms is guaranteed under our Bill of Rights and marriage is not. It is just that easy.

As a side note, I would like to hear you recite a description of an ‘Assault Rifle’ in one sentence. Here is a hint: there is no such thing, just like there is no such thing as an assault pistol or an assault shotgun or an assault knife. The media has convinced you there is.

Was the Kool-Aid tasty, Matt?

Q-10) Why do you spend more money on defense than education and healthcare?

A-10) Because without defense, you cannot have education OR health care. Unless you’re Canada and you can leech off American taxpayer funded defense.

All in all, I hear this leftist pap every night on left wing looney radio here in Seattle. This guy is not only uneducated, he’s lazy and boring.

Oh wait, he’s Canadian. I forgot.
