Quickie

So I wake up yesterday afternoon to find that no only have I screwed up the linkage to yesterday’s Soundboard tune, but that once I fix all that, my ISP is taking a big crap. I can’t go anywhere on the net save for my RNS functions, Google and the daily Kos.

Shortly after that the Analog Wife comes back from walking one of the dogs with the day’s mail in her hand. One of the parcels is from the IRS. We open it and find out that some chucklehead at the wife’s old employer reported paying her more than they told her they paid her on her 2003 W2 and the IRS wants another $523.

Thursday was looking to be sucking hard and I hadn’t even been awake for 30 minutes.

I hop in the shower to try and was this crap day away but that doesn’t work because I somehow manage to bounce the toothpaste cap off the sink counter and into the toilet bowl. So I get done with all that and go put on black Levis a black t-shirt that says “Evil Inside in the form of the Intel swirl and a black sweatshirt over that.

As I gather up my shit for the night I walk past the CD rack and grab this album

BIB.JPG

Because I feel like it and go out and fire up the AnalogMobile.

I hit the road for my 15 minute commute with BiB playing at a measured 122db with 85% of the available wattage working and the rest standing in the wings and I don’t know what it is, but everyone is getting the hell out of my way. I swear I had to catch my trucks reflection in a tractor trailer I passed to make sure I hadn’t somehow picked up an Abrahms main gun and mounted it on my truck in my sleep. Even the street lights were working in my favor.

I pull into the parking lot and look at the clock to see that I have arrived early. You know your day is turning around when you’ve shortened your ETA and your ears are ringing.

So, to make up for screwing up yesterday’s tunage, I’m offering a two-fer today.

This is the song I hit the highway with yesterday

Shoot to Thrill

Hopefully it works for you like it did for me.

Speaking of me, I am taking this morning off to go talk to someone about a prospective job offer that I got earlier this week. If they’re willing to deal I might be moving away from the ‘Sanitation Engineer’ life. I must be getting slow or something, it took until April for someone to try and hire me away.

Anyway, yesterday’s tune is still available so, if I piqued your interest with the write up check it out now and let me know what you think.

The Soundboard: Fists of Curry Edition

I know what you’re saying to yourself; “Kid, you play some decent tunage on the Soundboard, but what I am looking for is some funky Bollywood movie soundtrack music

Well here you go:

The Good, The Bad and The Chutney

This track is from the album “Bombay the Hard Way. A guy calling himself ‘Dan the Automator’ has taken a number of soundtracks from Bollywood* gangster/action movies and edited them into something quite kewl. There are even some vox lines added to some of the tunes to give them some added punch. All in all, I gave this album 8 out of 10 ‘Hell Yeahs!’ on the first spin and I pull it off the shelf every couple of months or so.

I know there are more than a few albums like this out there, so if you like it let me know and I’ll try to get a list of them together.

*Bollywood is India’s version of Hollywood, hence the name.

UPDATE – Doh! The song link works now.

I am a special interest group

And so are you. We all know this just as we all know that if enough of us get together and create a larger special interest group on a certain topic, we can actually effect change.

But some goofy broad in Vermont has taken this idea to idiospheric proportions,

From DANEgerus,

The Associated Press reports that residents of Bennington, Vt., have voted down a ballot measure “capping the size of big-box retailers to 75,000 square feet.” The rejection clears the way for the local Wal-Mart to expand to 112,000 square feet. We love this quote:

Alicia Romac of the pro-cap group Citizens for a Greater Bennington said she wished the decision had been left up to elected officials. “It’s special interests interfering with what’s best for the community process, and I don’t think that’s really the best way to run a government,” she said.

Just like DANE said, Democrats hate Democracy

The JunkYardBlog has a link to an interesting piece of actual investigative journalism. It deals with Terry Nichols role in the Oklahoma City Bombing and about the FBI/ATFE/whatever only recently finding bomb making materials at Nichols’ residence almost a decade after the last time they searched it. I knew the alphabet soup agencies were sloppy and/or lazy, but geez louise!

Anyway, the article liked to above also goes a little deeper into what Nichols might have been doing on his trip to the Phillipines shortly before the attack on the Federal Center in OKC.

It points to the fact that the mastermind behind the 1993 WTC bombing was operating out of the Philippines at the time and gives food for thought on that subject, among other things.

While I am not normally one to entertain conspiracy theories, but I keep having a tugging thought in the back of my head that says the Clinton Administration knew all this about McVeigh and Nichols but chose to keep it under wraps so as to not have to go to war with the Islamofascists and ruin the economic prosperity of the mid-90’s with a war.

With that plan, they could not only make the federal hunting of white men with guns their #1 priority, they could also play a weak connection to a minor league white supremacist group to the hilt.

It just seems like too close a play from their book to be completely disallowed out of hand.

But then again, there are way to many independent parties in this game to not have any of that leak out if it were true.

But I’m not saying it would surprise me if it was.

No Worries

As you probably already know, Captain Ed is kicking ass and taking names on the subject of the AdScam scandal currently going on up north in Canada.

Now, I tried to log into CQ before going to work yesterday to get the new info/update on the happenings, but A. it took forever for the page to load through my cable modem and B. I got two DNS screens before I was even able to get that.

I was worried about the possibility that the Canucks may have gotten to CQ’s server, host or some other link in the web page chain and shut him down.

Apparently, so were some Canadians.

But no worries as everything seems to be fine now and it may have just been the sheer number of people visiting to get the updates that did the deed.

Keep on keeping on Cap’n. We’ll be reading as long as you keep sending them home to momma in little boxes. Metaphorically, of course.

Too funny not to read

A liberal reporter with an agenda goes out to try and prove that anyone can buy an AK47.

In this case, she finds that ‘Anyone’ equals “A US citizen with no criminal convictions or restraining orders, who doesn’t use any illegal drugs and is not mentally ill, is not buying the firearm for someone who cannot do so legally and is at least 18 years of age. Oh and has a valid ID showing their residence to be in the state where the purchase is taking placeâ€? can buy an AK47 “variantâ€? with limited cartridge capacity.

But it takes Jed at Freedom Sight to point all this out because most gun bigots will refuse to read between the lines of this goofy broad’s article.

Go read now

Kick Ass!

It looks like Floridians will finally be getting some decent gun laws.

Of course, the AP twerp who wrote this article about the proposed law not only plays it like the sky is falling, but is too chickenshit to sign his name.

People who feel threatened anywhere they have a legal right to be — even on the street or at a baseball game — could “meet force with force” to defend themselves without fear of prosecution or liability under a bill passed overwhelmingly Tuesday by the Florida House.

The measure essentially extends a right Floridians already have in their home or car. Under present law, however, people attacked anywhere else are supposed to do what they can to avoid escalating the situation and can use deadly force only after they’ve tried to retreat.

“I’m sorry, people, but if I’m attacked I shouldn’t have a duty to retreat,” said the bill’s sponsor, state Rep. Dennis Baxley. “That’s a good way to get shot in the back.”

The measure passed 94-20. It had already passed the Senate and now heads to Gov. Jeb Bush, who has not said whether he will sign it. It was the top priority of the National Rifle Association in Florida this year.

Baxley said that if people have the clear right to defend themselves without having to worry about legal consequences, criminals will think twice.

Damn right, they’ll think twice. Which is doubling the number of times they currently think about it.

I cannot for the life of me remember where I saw this last night, but if I find it somewhere this morning, I’ll credit it.

Question for the left

According to the folks at Strategy Page, China is looking at something called an “OOTB (out of the blue) Attack on Taiwan, possibly during their upcoming military exercises/war games.

While I have grave concerns for not only the Taiwanese people but for our government’s reaction (or non-reaction), I would like to ask anyone on the left side of the political sphere a question.

Will you and/or your anti-war cohorts hit the streets in the tens of thousands to protest China’s truly imperialist expansion policies as you did at the beginning of the ‘War for Oil’?

Or will you just put your collective heads in the sand like you all seem to do towards any country that isn’t America?

Lookee what’s up

In the House of Representatives

H.R. 698: Citizenship Reform Act of 2005 – Amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to limit automatic citizenship at birth to a child born in the United States who: (1) was born in wedlock to a parent either of whom is a U.S. citizen or national, or is an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence who maintains such residence; or (2) was born out of wedlock to a mother who is a U.S. citizen or national, or is an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence who maintains such residence.
Defines “born in wedlock” to exclude common law marriages.

Call your Reps today and get this back in motion. It was introduced on Feb 9 and has been sitting in the Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security, and Claims since March 2nd.

This is the real deal and it can become law if enough folks are pushing it.

My Rep is Baghdad Jim McDermott, but I’ve called his office anyway.

I discovered this via David Neiwert’s blog, Orcinus.

You remember David, he’s the guy who can’t figure out who the real fascists are, but says he holds the definitive knowledge anyway.

Oh and if you do support this bill I’m sure Mr. Neiwert will consider you a bigot, and that is reason enough for me.

But what he doesn’t understand that coming to the US illegally shouldn’t be beneficial, it should be detrimental. Only LEGAL immigration should be beneficial. I know that is a hard concept for a one worlder to fathom, but just give it a shot, mmkay Dave?

Some Rights More Important Than Others?

Oliver Willis (Like Superglue to Stupid) has been making up more items for his Brand Democrat line on the subject of Medical Privacy stemming from, I believe, the Shiavo frenzy. The one that caught my eye was this one.

Of course, I don’t believe that the government should be involved in medical decisions either. Oliver and I actually agree on this. But that is about all. He, I’m sure, thinks that Socialized Medicine is also a right, which would put the government not only in charge of your medical decisions but give them direct access to your medical information.

But go figure. The logic just stops dead at the threshold.

But we’ll leave that alone for now because I want to point out his hypocrisy on putting the Right to Privacy issue ahead of other, equally important issues.

You see, like any good Democrat, Ollie is a gun bigot. He doesn’t like them, doesn’t want to see them or even hear about them. And yet, you and I have a right to own them that he would work towards stripping away from us.

So, in the vein that he has chosen this issue, Medical Privacy, and made his banner for it, I have chosen mine, The Right To Own Any Firearm I Choose To, and made my own banner.
