RNS Quote of the Day: 02/02/10

Don’t read this more than two or three times. Otherwise, your head might explode.

It’s the recession more than the budget that is causing the deficit

Chris @ AmericaBlog

He is trying to, essentially, blame Bush for the deficit by saying that if it weren’t for people drawing their unemployment, Medicaid, and other federal assistance programs the deficit wouldn’t be going up so fast.

Umm, first of all, isn’t unemployment supposed to be separate from the general fund?

Secondly, aren’t those other services funded by the federal budget?

Third, just how many trillions was the last budget versus how many hundreds of millions in assistance programs? Last I checked, the deficit was growing in trillions, not hundreds of millions.

Lastly, if his statement was even close to being true, the Republican Party still wouldn’t be using it as a reason to talk about the dismantling of wasteful and costly programs because they’re pussies.

You’re absolutely right. I couldn’t even read that a second time without reaching for the duct tape…

Sheesh, makes you wonder how people with such defective intellect manage to get through the day without adult supervision.
