Catch 22

So long as the 22 you’re catching isn’t Class 3

We can’t have machine guns because they are unusual because they are regulated by the government, they are regulated because they are unusual, they are unusual because they are regulated, they are regulated because they’re unusual.

Stop thinking that loop right now or you’ll go insane.

One Response to Catch 22

  1. A Texan says:

Ridiculous. The law AT THE TIME was that the 2nd was a “collective right?” EXCUUUUUSE me, but “Heller” has shown that to not be the case. What crap, what an abdication of responsibility.

So what if everyone thought that the world was flat, and subsequent evidence proved that wrong – evidence upon which someone was convicted of a crime (heresy?). If the basis upon which someone was convicted of a crime is proven to be wrong or unconstitutional, then there is NO crime and the conviction should be removed from the person’s record immediately and the person released from prison.

I look forward to a case in which someone tries to purchase a newly-made full auto that is substantially identical to a pre-ban one. Let BATFE not give permission under 922(o) – and then bring a case.

“Unusual,” huh? Full autos are only unusual in civilian hands, and then only because of the onerous tax imposed in 1934 (which ceased to become onerous as our currency depreciated), and the 1986 ban. BUT FOR those things, what buyer of an AR clone wouldn’t pay another $50 for “da switch?” Hell, it might not even be more, as it is far, far more efficient for Colt, Bushmaster, etc. to make every single gun with the same internal mechanism, instead of “some select fire, some semi-auto only.”

Further, if police and military ownership of full autos is considered, they are hardly unusual. You see, the duties of the militia under the Constitution (Congress has the power “To provide for calling forth the militia to execute the laws of the union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions” under Article 1, Section 8) in today’s world REQUIRE full autos – are you going to send a bunch of militia to face the invading Chinese and Russian armies, or a rogue faction of the US armed forces (all of whom are armed with selective fire or full auto weapons)?
