Cartoonist Tom Tomorrow (who is admittedly very funny but so hard-left that I ain’t linking to him) has a post up with these pics from the United Arab Emirates, where they’re celebrating Ramadan. “Kareem Ramadan” means roughly the equivalent of “Happy Holidays!” here.

Destroying the Extremists’ Culture? Well on its way. Bear in mind that Ramadan requires the strictly devout to fast during daylight hours — for a month.

Nicely done, Global Economy. Carry on!

Yeah, port visits to Abu Dhabi during Ramadan sucked… Because they enforce the fasting thing for non-believers also. We were told to the point of stoning people who were caught.

Yes, but something tells me that behind closed doors those donuts and burgers get eaten well before nightfall.

In the past, if fasting meant you didn’t eat your gruel until nightfall, no big deal. But with all these wonderful temptations available now, and with Mideast young people learning the instant-gratification habit, enforcement of that sort of ban is going to breed resentment — lots of it.
