No children? Get out of the park.

Btw, thanks for your tax dollars, possible child molester.

People out for a stroll or to walk their dog face being quizzed about their motives for being there and placed under suspicion of being a paedophile.

Senior officials at Telford and Wreckin Council said the policy was to protect children and the vulnerable, and they would only stop anyone acting suspiciously.

But their actions have been branded heavy handed and “draconian”.

The policy came to light after two environmental campaigners dressed as penguins were thrown out of Telford Town Park when caught handing out leaflets on climate change.

Rachel Whittaker and Neil Donaldson, of the Wrekin Stop War pressure group, were told they had to leave the park because they had not undergone Criminal Records Bureau checks or risk assessments before being allowed near children.

David Ottley, Telford & Wrekin’s sports and recreation manager, said in a letter to them: “Our Town Park staff approach adults that are not associated with any children in the Town Park and request the reason for them being there.”

“In particular, this applies to those areas where children or more vulnerable groups gather, such as play facilities and the entrances to play areas.”

Want to have lunch with your sweetheart?

That is what restaurants are for, I guess.

Have a good book and want to read it while stretched out on the grass?

Hope you have a house with a yard.

A little frisbee golf with the boys?

Yeah, right. Who do you think you’re foolin’? Only pedophiles play with frisbees.

Jeezus Kristobal! A security clearance to go to the park?

Does it mean I get to wear a special hat so as to be easily recognized?

    Honestly, I’m ok with this.

I mean, as a law abiding citizen who wishes to purchase a firearm, I’m put through the wringer because “I might be a criminal”.

Let the rest of the populace see what it feels like to be presumed guilty before proven innocent.

I see your point, Robb, but I cannot agree with you.

As you mentioned, everyone already has the opportunity to be treated as a likely criminal simply by purchasing a firearm. But making more people go though it for something this trivial will not win them to our side.

Now, mandating that all registered automobiles be fitted with a breathalyser ignition interlock system and that anyone who wants to leave their house for work or to take their kids to school must pass these breath tests before the car will start because they could potentially be a drunk, that is something I think could work to our advantage.

I was being sarcastic. I want to expand rights, not restrict them, even against those who want to restrict mine.

Freedom cannot be won by restricting it.

Mmm. Got caught in the funny.

Oh well, I’d still like to see everyone have to huff to cruise just for a week to see what it is like to be a gun owner.
