This is not Autoblogging

You see, the first time I tried Autoblogging, the video card in my laptop went T.U. The second time I tried it, our server crashed. That was back in Jan of 2004, when Nukevet Neal and our host at the time had some disagreements about how much of a priority it was to get the site up and running again and we had to get a new domain name when negotiations went down the tubes. BTW, if anyone wants to know the name of a hosting company to never, ever work with, my email addy is in the right hand column.

So now that we have it straight that this is not Autoblogging, lets take a look at a car or two, shall we?

It seems that what was once old, is once again new in the auto industry.

Ford brought back the original Mustang styling with a bang along with a 21st Century GT40 supercar and now it looks as if the Chrysler folks, the people who gave us the rebirth of the AC Cobra, the Dodge Viper, and the family friendly PT Cruiser, is about to have at rebirthing one of their Muscle Cars

You will probably recognize that as sort of a stylized drawing of an early 70’s vintage Dodge Challenger.

But not so fast, take a look at these

It looks as though the Mopar boys are going to show this off at the international auto show circuit after the beginning of next year and have rumored it to be powered by their 6.1L Hemi V8 with a 6spd manual with the pistol grip shifter transferring power to the rear rubber.

Can you say “Eats Mustangs for lunch?�

I knew you could.

While I would have rather they build a 21st Century Barracuda, what with them laying the Plymouth brand name low a couple years back, it would have been a bit difficult, so this will do.

But I still want the GTX to come back.

    My dream “project car” (since most of the extant examples out there are in various states of disrepair) is an AMX Javelin.

    Why? Because my favorite toy car as a kid was the electric-blue Matchbox AMX Javelin with the black airscoop on the hood.

    Oh well, these new Detroit body styles are pretty close.

    Of course, the reason American companies are doing so much more in the style department nowadays is that their quality still sucks. Notice that Toyotas are getting more and more bland as time goes on? Quality = sales = you don’t need creative design.

    Yessss! Mopar rocks! Had a ’65 Dart GT ragtop with a 273″ Cuda engine in it for a while. Would beat a GTO in a fair race, and did.

    Speking of GTO’s, I saw an ’06 Goat yesterday at the gas station I had stopped at ($1.99 gas, eat your hearts out!) Very impressive. Coupe, very radical alloy wheels. HUGE double-caliper front brakes.

    The FACTORY exhaust had a note that meant business, not the wanna-be-a-rod note that the minicar kiddies bring on with their coffee-can mufflers.

    SIX dot OH fuel-injected V-8. Probably near or exceeding 350 hp. Yep, want one.

    Road Runner grill and tail.

    I’ve missed my ’73 Challenger (2-door hardtop, 318 engine, ‘slapstick’ 3-speed auto-trans) since I sold it in 1987 at the behest of my 2nd wife. Wrong choice: should have sold the wife, except that the Challenger was becoming maintenance-intensive (although not as much so as the wife), and was painted baby-poop green with a dark green vinyl roof.
    Never liked vinyl roofs, and it was just a matter of time before it started molting.

    Shoulda kept the Challenger, shoulda stayed single, shoulda put the money into an engine rebuild. Life is just a matter of avoiding “shoulda”, don’t you think?
