Good News

This time, for eastern Europe.

The United States expects to finalize negotiations with Bulgaria in the fall that may grant U.S. troops additional access to military bases in the country, U.S. and Bulgarian officials announced Wednesday.

James Pardew, the U.S. ambassador to Bulgaria, said he expected to reach an agreement about use of the Novo Selo training area, about 25 miles from Sliven, and nearby Bezmer Air Base, as early as September, when Bulgaria’s new government is slated to take power.

One more slow step in the direction of helping the serfs of the former Soviet Bloc become the equals of their western counterparts.

It will take time and there will be some very unhappy people, but we will get away from Schoeder’s socialist fantasyland.

Day of Deeds

By the time most of y’all read this, I will be off to Whidbey Island to put some holes in paper for cash (hopefully).

I was so busy yesterday, getting things, including myself, ready for the match that I absolutely forget to link to the Carnival of Cordite.

It is residing at The Baboon Pirates this week.

I also got a note from both Gullyborg, creator of the CoC, and Headmistress SondraK about a fellow blogger, Chris at The Anarchangel, who has had a very real life Fatwa issued upon him, at least if the Fibbies who contacted him and his family are to be believed.

MotherPussBucket!

Here I am blogging for over two years now and still no Fatwa for the Analog Kid! What am I, chopped liver here? I’m probably a bigger infidel than Chris is, I don’t even have a god that I worship, which makes me lower than a Christian and not even worth holding for ransom!

I’ve also spoken multiple times here at RNS about marching members of the new Mujahadeen into the Puget Sound at the point of my shotgun! C’mon you fuckin’ goat raping pedophile worshipping sons of sand gnats, get off your asses, I’m right here! I haven’t gone anywhere and I’m not hiding!

Please give me a Fatwa, please! Once you declare a Fatwa on me I can legally, oh yes, quite legally, begin hunting you right back, you shit stains in Allah’s cotton briefs! And boy, what an easy hunt that would be, what with you stinking worse than any bear I’ve ever bagged and tagged and the fact that most bear are smarter than you.

You’d be fucking lucky if I just behead you and stick your bacon wrapped cranium on top of a chunk of re-bar stuck in my front yard for my neighbors to see. Especially the one with the ignorant ‘No Blood for Oil’ bumper sticker on the back of her “Dodge Caravan of Many Colors”.

But I wouldn’t save all the fun for myself, oh no; I’ve got too many friends who speak a certain Cyrillic based language and whose knuckles drag on the ground from not being lucky enough to get a spot in a mechanized unit of the old Soviet Army who’d love to have some playtime with you. Hell, I’d pay them $500 a head for every one of you limp-dicked mamas-boys they brought to me (even though they’d probably do it for free).

They remember your sit-on-their-asses-and-don’t-do-shit-drugged-out Chechen brethren from the bad old days. One of them even had to go home for a funeral in the aftermath of Beslan. I think I’d just let him have his way with whomever he caught.

So come on, you lazy camel fuckers! I just got another case of ammo off the truck and I’d hate to have to just put it into storage, give me a fatwa!

You think I’m joking, test me you folowers of a false prophet. This won’t be the first time I’ve had to deal with you sons of bastards. Your fathers and your sons will be on their knees before me begging for mercy, but they will renounce Allah before they get any.

Bah! Always a bridesmaid, but never a bride.

Head on over the Archangel’s place and read. I’m off to the range.

Practice Day

Today is pracice day for the 100yd Benchrest match I’ll be competeing in tomorrow on Whidbey Island with the Boomershoot rifle I built last fall.

range031305.jpg

Even though I have taken it out to the range a number of times since Boomershoot, this will be the first semi-formal competition I’ve done with it since them and I’m pretty sure I’m going to need some serious practice. The reason I called it ‘semi-formal’ is that there is a non-standard standing portion of the match and I haven’t shot while holding an overly long, 16lb rifle or anything like it in a while.

The target has a one inch X-ring and a ten ring that is another inch larger in diameter. On the bench portion, I should be able to easily get all twenty shots in the center but I’ll be lucky to hit the damn four inch nine ring while I’m standing, no matter what I do.

But that is the only way you learn, so I’m going to do it, no matter the embarassment.

I’m going to also compete in the rimfire portion of the match later in the morning with my 10-22 (which I just discovered I haven’t got a picture of) that should be a breeze with the way I’ve got it set up, I just have to move the zero out from 50yds to 100yds.

And just so that I can quit hitting myself on the forehead for forgetting three days in a row, I want to show off my new deskbound noisemaker,

P7110003.JPG

It’s nothing really fancy or special, but I got tired of my PC’s three different programs fighting over which one was going to play the CD’s I stuff in there and wanted something with a subwoofer.

And as for the inaugural cd, since it is a 3-disk player, so who else would I put in first but Rush’s triple disk live show from Rio de Janeiro, natch.

Have a good Saturday everyone, I’ll post before I leave for the match tomorrow and have some stuff for y’all.

Hydrotherapy Day 1

161065.gif

Since part of modeling involves swimsuits and the main reason for swimsuits, besides looking great on women, is swimming, one of the remedial courses I teach is called ‘Pool Therapy’.

Basically, we are helping the girls who are afraid of the water, get over their fears so as to help them be able to work in, on or near the water.

I do not teach them how to swim, that is an entirely other course at the university. All I really do is get them comfortable around the water.

I don’t let them get distracted by things like other students or pool toys or their swimsuits.

Getting Ready for a Busy Weekend

Howdy everyone. Not much from me today, I’ve got a weekend ahead that is so overloaded that I can’t believe I scheduled it myself.

I’ve got guns to ready for competition and stuff to do, but I do have a tip and a question……

First the tip:

If you’re a fan of John Wayne, you’ll want to make sure your cable/satellite bill is paid up as they’ll be playing two of the rarest of his movies this weekend on AMC.

Long requested by many fans of “The Duke,” the aerial dramas “The High and the Mighty” and “Island in the Sky” will make their DVD debuts Aug. 2 via Paramount Home Entertainment (although both movies were released theatrically by Warner Bros.). Before that, the films will have their first television showings in years on AMC, as the cornerstones of a full weekend of Wayne attractions.

And now the question:

My brother-in-law has been in Iraq since January (you may remember the ‘Iraq in Pictures’ series) and probably won’t be able to come home until next January or February. He has two sons, aged 4 and 7.

I have a Sony Playstation that I haven’t played in so long that I forgot I had it boxed up in the closet. I just unearthed it and want to send it to the boys. The problem is that what with me not having been 4 or 7 years of age in a long time, I have no idea what games are out there that might be interesting to them.

I went on eBay and found a ‘Bob the Builder’ game for it because I know that Nathan (he’s the 7 year old) likes that show, but I have no idea what a 4 year old (that would be Carl) would like.

I want to send this off to them with, like, seven or eight games to keep their minds off their deployed dad, but have little to no clue.

Any suggestions from parents or grandparents would be greatly appreciated.

Christmas in July

After I showed off Darth Vader on Monday, it looks like a bunch of other people in the gun-blogosphere are getting themselves presents.

Mugwug got a new flashhider for his M1A and has some great pics.

Og the Neadnerpundit picked up his Uberti Colt Cattleman.

And Kevin Baker got his S&W M-25 Mountain Gun

Those last two are in 45LC, which is a caliber I have always liked. In the most recent Shotgun News, CDNN Sports is advertising the Taurus Tracker in 45LC

For only $399!

It is taking everything I have to not order myself one.

The Soundboard: Sucker for a Hook Series

Part 5 – Freshman Year

Going from junior high to high school pretty much sucks all the way around. You don’t know where you are, where you are going or the vast majority of the people around you.

Hell, it might as well be France; because after all that, you don’t really speak the language and you’re treated like shit.

But at least you have your music.

1987-88 was my freshman year. Bon Jovi’s ‘Slippery When Wet’ was huge and I was listening to today’s album for months on a near constant loop on my Sony Walkman cassette player.

I actually have my original cassette of this album, though it doesn’t play anymore. I also have three other copies of it; one also on cassette and two on CD.

Today’s artist is New Order and today’s album is their epic ‘Substance’

Today’s tuneage: Subculture

If there was an album that I would have to admit to having trouble deciding on which tune to post, it would be this one.

Enjoy!

Good News/Not So Good News

The Good News is that I have already received a couple of entries in the e-Postal Match.

The No-So_good News is that SSGT Walter Gaya was wounded by an IED in Mosul.

Walter is THE Walter of the Walter and Adam Fund started by Kim du Toit to send needed items to the 1/24 Recon guys after meeting them at Boomershoot 2004.

As you already probably know, Adam Plumondore was killed by an IED in Mosul in mid-February.

Walter is doing as well as can be expected, recouperating at Landstuhl with an eye injury and a knee tendon injury, and will be coming home for rehab and what looks so far to be a full recovery.

Kim is asking to for spare cash to send items to Mrs. Gaya.

Please follow this link to read more and/or donate. Thank you.

Dumb Hippies

As I wrote yesterday, I spent most of Sunday on Whidbey Island with Mr. Completely and Kiwi. It is physically possible to drive to Whidbey Island, but it is close to 50 miles out of the way for me, so I took one of the many ferry boats in the State of Washington fleet. While on the ferry ride home, I also ran into one of the many hippies that inhabit the Western Washington area.
