I have been meaning to get out and restart shooting in official Department of Civilian Marksmanship matches, and now that I’m part of the coolest interactive internet shooting game in the blogosphere, I really should do it just to keep up a rep.

I think that these posts from The Reasonable Nut is going to prove to be a great motivator. Words here. Pics here.

03-A3. Words to live by. Millions of others before me did.

Success

It seems as though we are off and running with the e-Postal Matches that were announced yesterday. I’ve gotten a number of responses and questions from folks about them and hope to have a really good turnout during this and the following week.

I’d like to thank all the other bloggers who helped me with linkage and promoting these as well as the contestants who affirmed their want to join in this little game and also Mr. Completely for joining me in this endeavor.

We’ll see how it goes in a couple weeks.

Questions Answered

On Saturday I posted that I would have some questions about the London bombings for folks on Sunday. Unfortunately, I spent all Saturday night writing things up for the e-Postal Matches and e-mailing other bloggers, hoping to get links to the contest and never got around to it.

Being ‘the e-Postal Match guy’ I had to get to the range. I met Mr. Completely and Kiwi for breakfast, a discussion of the matches and then some shooting, got home and passed out for a bit after being up for 26 hours.

Mr. Completely writes about our day here, if you’d like to read about it. When you get to the bottom of the post where he starts talking about cameras and ‘bad help’; he may have forgotten his, but I remembered mine, I was just too tired to remember to snap any pics.

So anyway, some of the questions I wanted to ask were these:

Do you think the vast array of surveillance cameras in London helped even a tiny bit?

I know we don’t know what is on the footage they have and it may actually show someone setting the explosive packages, but since they didn’t actually forewarn the police agencies until afterwards, with what we currently know, are they worth a rat pissing on a flat rock?

Will our government’s Politically Correct culture actually help the potential terrorists?

I really didn’t need an answer to this one, but I found it yesterday anyway at LGF,

Immigration checks on Tube passengers banned
15 February 2005

Random immigration checks on Tube passengers have been banned by Underground chiefs after they were exposed by the Evening Standard.

The media helped kill at least 50 some odd people last week because they wanted to be ‘sensitive’ to immigrants, ignoring the fact that some of those immigrants want to kill them.

They’re Getting Braver

I have always raised my personal color coded “Threat Level’ at least one bar higher whenever the Anarchists come to town. I believe that if it isn’t firearms owners starting the blowback when the confiscation crews assemble or the property owners when the state evictions begin, it will be the Anarchists rampaging during or after their little ‘Hate-America Festivals.

Which means my ears got pointy when I read about the San Francisco cop getting assaulted over the weekend by chuckleheads taking part in an anti-G8 rally in that town.

On November 30th, 1999 (aka N30 to the freaks), Seattle’s downtown got the full brunt of the WTO protesters unhinged angst. For hours on end, folks young and old, male and female, and most of them wearing the standard uniform of the neo-Anarchist left rampaged through the commercial district of downtown Seattle, breaking anything that could be broken, stealing anything they could carry and burning most everything else.

The streets Olive Way and Madison Street lead directly from the downtown commercial district to the Capital Hill commercial district and the only thing that kept the mob from taking those paths out of downtown to go tear up some more property that wasn’t theirs were the Seattle Police officers, the Washington State Patrol Troopers and the King County Sheriff’s deputies who were already on scene and in riot gear.

Which is sad because Capital Hill is populated by people who just cannot stand officers of the peace and actually blame THE OFFICERS for starting the mayhem. After I first heard that, I wished that they had let the hoodlums head east for some more property destruction.

What I’m basically trying to point out is that while there were minor injuries in the officer corps, some of them from the guy next to them, the vast majority of them were minor.

Now we have not only an officer who was hit by a blunt object thrown from inside a crowd of these very same Anarcho-loonies and is in the ICU ward of the hospital with a skull fracture and brain swelling because of it, but the losers are cheering the attack on the local IMC.

If you read no other parts of the ‘By Ourselves, For Ourselves’ series, I hope you at least read the very first one. If you’ve read it in the past and have some spare time today, re-read it and think about things that will raise your personal threat bar. Be rational and be thoughtful.

You might also want to take a look at three new posts by Rivrdog at his Paratus website about you “Kit or choice of armaments. Here, here and here.

e-Postal Match Announcement

Hello Ladies and gentlemen.

This week’s match is linked here, but I would ask that you please read this short introduction beforehand. Thank you.

I would like to welcome you to the first of what I hope will be a long running series of internet based firearms competitions. These will be for fun only and should not be taken overly seriously because super-serious people do not have a whole lot of fun.

One item I would like to stress that should always be taken very seriously is firearms safety. ALWAYS treat EVERY firearm as if it were loaded, ALWAYS keep your finger OFF of the trigger until you are ready to shoot and NEVER point a firearm at anything you do not wish to destroy.

Slowly, some in the “Reality Based” community

start to deal with that reality. Amazingly, from “the Guardian.”:http://observer.guardian.co.uk/print/0,3858,5235509-102273,00.html

bq. There are many tasks in the coming days. Staying calm, helping the police and protecting Muslim communities from neo-Nazi attack are high among them. But the greatest is to resolve to see the world for what it is and remove the twin vices of wilful myopia and bad faith which have disfigured too much liberal thought for too long.

It’s amazing to me how people like Oliver Willis, Kos, MyDD, and the DUMBers can look at this and see it as anything other than what it is – a fight to the finish.

Oh, yeah, in light of “this story,”:http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,162040,00.html and if “this story is true,”:http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,162006,00.html does anyone really care that our troops didn’t wear gloves while handling a book at Gitmo?

Howdy all. Not much going on at Casa de Analog that isn’t domestic. Finally got off my butt and got a storage unit to put our excess junk in. I knew I was a pack-rat, but I think that part of my personality rubbed off on the wife because we got a fuckload of stuff.

In other news, the 21st Carnival of Cordite is up and moving fast with all sorts of gunny goodness. Go check it out.

I saw this at Right Thinking and thought you all might want it.

flag.jpg

You can find it here.

Also, I received a message from Professor Booty last night.

He says that out of respect for those injured and murdered in the bombings on Thursday, he won’t be posting any pictures this weekend.

So just in case you didn’t have enough to dislike about the jihadis, they have now also taken away your weekend heinie dosage.

I’ll be spending today cleaning house and basically half-assed moving (or would that be quarter-assed?).

I will be spending Sunday at the range with my soon-to-be partner in crime, Mr. Completely, and you will hear our grand plan on Monday along with the debut of my newest projectile throwing plaything.

Anyway, gotta get loading the truck. I’ll see you all tomorrow with some questions I would like answered by the RNS readership about the bombings. See you then.
