The Drill:
Please take up your open-sighted, centerfire carbine rifle and place 10 rapid fire, off hand shots in this target at 50 yards.
Targets will be scored as follows:
Center = 10pts
Small Black ring = 9pts
White ring = 8pts
Large black ring = 7pts
All shots outside the large black ring will counted at zero points.
10 shots on the target. Every shot on the target over 10 will be counted at -5pts
Shots that break a line will be scored at the higher value.
Ties will be decided at the measurement of total group size from the outer edges of farthest shots. Pictures or scans will then be necessary for scoring purposes.

Barrels must be 20 inches or less in length. If you need to substitute due to lack of a carbine, email me.
Rimfire carbines may be substituted, but you will have to double up and put 20 shots into the target as your hits will be scored at half value.
Semi-Auto, pump action, lever action, bolt action, single shot are all allowed. Your type of rifle does not matter as you are not being timed. 10 rounds as fast as you can safely load, aim and fire.
Not every range will let you load multiple rounds in the magazine. This does not matter either. 10 rounds as fast as you can safely load, aim and fire.
Not every range will let you stand and shoot, insisting that you only shoot from a bench. That is OK. Sit at the bench, but do not support your upper body while shooting
Non-magnifying optics are allowed. This includes red-dot sights and holographic sights because some folks need them.
UPDATE VARIATIONS – From questions I have gotten via e-mail:
Pistol caliber carbines are allowed
You may only submit one target per firearm, but you may submit targets from multiple firearms.
I would prefer if you only shoot and submit one target and not shoot a bunch of targets, submitting your best one. You may practice as much as you like on other targets, but please try to keep it to one Postal Match target.

The ring measurements are the same on this target as the one posted for this match, it is just colored differently and has ‘Minus Spots’ because of some sadists idea of ‘Fun”.

Please consider this an examination of your skills with a rifle you might keep in your vehicle (aka A Truck/Trunk gun).
Think of it as though you were driving by your local courthouse and this happened. You have time grab, take cover and load, but that is about it. Vehicles both in front of and behind you bar your exit of the scene. You see that he is wearing body armor and your concealed pistol will not do the job.
