Practice Day

Today is pracice day for the 100yd Benchrest match I’ll be competeing in tomorrow on Whidbey Island with the Boomershoot rifle I built last fall.

Even though I have taken it out to the range a number of times since Boomershoot, this will be the first semi-formal competition I’ve done with it since them and I’m pretty sure I’m going to need some serious practice. The reason I called it ‘semi-formal’ is that there is a non-standard standing portion of the match and I haven’t shot while holding an overly long, 16lb rifle or anything like it in a while.

The target has a one inch X-ring and a ten ring that is another inch larger in diameter. On the bench portion, I should be able to easily get all twenty shots in the center but I’ll be lucky to hit the damn four inch nine ring while I’m standing, no matter what I do.

But that is the only way you learn, so I’m going to do it, no matter the embarassment.

I’m going to also compete in the rimfire portion of the match later in the morning with my 10-22 (which I just discovered I haven’t got a picture of) that should be a breeze with the way I’ve got it set up, I just have to move the zero out from 50yds to 100yds.

And just so that I can quit hitting myself on the forehead for forgetting three days in a row, I want to show off my new deskbound noisemaker,

It’s nothing really fancy or special, but I got tired of my PC’s three different programs fighting over which one was going to play the CD’s I stuff in there and wanted something with a subwoofer.

And as for the inaugural cd, since it is a 3-disk player, so who else would I put in first but Rush’s triple disk live show from Rio de Janeiro, natch.

Have a good Saturday everyone, I’ll post before I leave for the match tomorrow and have some stuff for y’all.
