The Soundboard: Christmas Tunian

And we’re continuing with our bagpipe Christmas tunage today, and I think everyday between now and Christmas morning (yeah, I know most of you wont stop by that morning, which is probably a good thing, but there’ll be tunage for those who do).

Today’s bits come from the OOP Laura MacKenzie album I borrowed from last week. I’ve been driving home with it everyday this week and have become enthralled with it being my “wind-down” tunian.

The Picardy Carol

The Holly and the Ivy

Enjoy and we’ll have more tomorrow.

Its Not On

So here I was, all prepared to throw down with some Paul-cultists, but none arrived. At first I thought that I had just chased all the true-believers away before hand, or that they just didn’t want to “waste” their time with a blog so far on the edge of the sphere.

But then I started my rounds and discovered that the Good Ship Paul was taking major damage yesterday.

Like I said in my LotR post, I am a trendsetter.

Apparently, Ron Paul said that taking money from White Supremacists is a noble act because it disables their abilty to use that money for “other purposes”.

Whatev.

And then Bill White, being the idiot that they’ve a prerequisite to join the Supremacist movement, goes onto their numero uno message board and instructs the Seek Helpers to not listen to what Ron Paul says to the MSM, he really does believe in their worldview. (link found via those eevviill Zionists at LGF)
I don’t know who Paul employs to do his PR, but that guy probably still hasn’t slept yet. And I’m sure that since the rightosphere was abuzz with those and other stories will both keep the Paulites keyboards warm with the clickety-clackety of typing hands and that by the time they make it to RNS, that post will be on page two.

Oh well.

And I would like to thank those who stopped by and showed their support in the comments.

Somebody thinks they’re special

I must have missed this article when if first came out over the weekend, but I caught it in the LttE section yesterday.

Apparently, the state run university in north Seattle, otherwise known as the University of Washington, feels that they deserve special consideration when it comes to the placement of halfway houses for sex offenders. Basically, they don’t want any anywhere near their campus.

Hmm, I think that I would like that consideration as well.

Unfortunately for me, I am not a university student or a university employee, but am just an unimportant peon of a citizen and I get no say as to where the state plops a halfway house. Nor will I get any notification that they’re putting one nearby me if they decide to do so.

The joys of watching government employees and taxpayer fund-suckers get preferential treatment.

I have succumb

So this last weekend while scanning the online retailers for anything I may have missed in my Christmas purchases, I ordered every Tolkien/Hobbit/LotR book, map, history, etc. that I could find.

Not cheap, but I think very worthwhile.

Other than watch the movies, I haven’t done anything Tolkien since my sophomore year in high school. Since then, a whole slew of “history” has come out and a new book of maps (I am a Map Geek, so it is natural for me to purchase such things).

Also, being the leader of the pack that I am, these purchases preceded the announcement of Peter Jackson’s agreement to Executive Produce not one, but two Hobbit films yesterday.

I guess he was just watching the orders coming across the wire and decided that if I was in it, he was too.

Hello 2010.

Ron Paul is a lying sack of road apples

And I invite the neo-Paulitans of the sphere to convince me otherwise in free and open debate.

Last night while eating dinner I watched Ron Paul unabashedly lie to Glenn Beck and the viewers of Beck’s show, such as myself, when he denied that he knew anything about the Truther dweeblets conspiracy theories.

Bald. Faced. Lie.

I’ve listened to a webcast of Paul on the Alex Jones “Tinfoilhat Radio Show” and read quotes from a different appearance he had made (Charles Johnson says he’s been on there a total of four times).

You can not be a guest on the “Loose Change Open Mike Night” show, take calls from people whose only hope to feel smarter than the general populace is to believe in asshatted conspiracy theories, and then disavow knowledge of these people’s beliefs without being called a liar by those who can tell the difference between a lying bastard and a honest human being.

Before last night, Ron Paul was an annoyance. His fanatics, a moderate pain in my ass. I don’t know about David, but I was getting a couple emails a week from his followers, who were of varying stripes of sanity and lucidity. I don’t know why, I think it is probably the banner at the top. And they don’t stop because you don’t reply. Also, if you simply tell them to stop and that you’re not interested you still get return emails telling you that you’re missing out on “The Real Deal”.

Its like they’re a fucking cult. I’m waiting for the track suit and the genital mutilation.

But back to Paul himself; last night he put himself in the lying sack of shit column with Mitt “The Tit”, Ding-Dong McCain (Feingold), Huck-a-fuck-abee and every Dem candidate. No vote. No way.

I have also have noticed that Paul has not asked the Troofers, or the Seek Helpers of Stormfucked for that matter, to stop sending him money. Likewise, when it was revealed that a large number of donations to his campaign in the one-day drive prior to this most recent one had come from stolen credit card numbers, I notice that his campaign had not returned the funds or even adjusted the dollar figures.

He isn’t even disavowing the textbook racist and anti-Semitic literature he’s published in his newsletters since the 1980’s. I’d quote them right here except that I refuse to give a stage to an asshole like that. Also, it makes the Paulbots run to the hills and I want them to step right up and tell me they can support such a bigoted, lying turdbag for the highest office in the land.

While I can and will applaud what a small number of his followers are doing to drive the FEC batty, Paul will always be a lying sack of shit unworthy of a single vote from any respectable citizen in my book.

And anyone willing to still vote for he who panders to the stupid and crazy is lying to themselves if they think that Ron Paul stands for anything more noble than getting Ron Paul elected. I’ll feed the tree of liberty with the lying sonofabitch myself if he ever makes it to the room with no corners.

Christmas Thanks

Rob of the SayAnything blog is thankful he is not Canadian

One thing I’ve been thinking about as lay convalescing in the hospital is just how rapidly I was able to get what was ailing me treated.

Saturday night I had severe abdominal pains. An ER doctor made a preliminary diagnosis of gall bladder problems that night, something that was confirmed by a surgeon that next morning. By Sunday at noon I was already on the schedule to get my gall bladder removed the following day.

If I were Canadian, my wait to get my very painful gall bladder problem fixed would have been approximately 5 weeks according to them America Medical Student Association. It’s about nine months in the United Kingdom, and three years in Sweden.

Yeah, I’m not such a big fan of “free” or my government that I’m willing to suffer like that for more than say, a day. Which is why I live in America and hold down a job that gives me bennies like “Health Insurance”. Folks who are unwilling to do that should not make me pay for their laziness.

You get what you pay/work for.

Ronald Reagan is still saving lives

Actually, it’s the warmongering baby-killers that the left believes are dead-enders aboard the USS Ronald Reagan that are doing the life saving

Laura Montero never thought her fun cruise to Mexico would end on a U.S. naval carrier surrounded by 3,000 sailors.
The 14-year-old owes her life to the men and women of the USS Ronald Reagan, one of the largest aircraft carriers in the Navy, who saved her in a mission worthy of Hollywood script.

Montero was aboard the Dawn Princess cruise ship off the coast of Baja, Mexico, Saturday when her appendix burst.
“It was a matter of life and death so it wasn’t very good at all,” said Montero’s mother, Trudy LaField.
The crew of the Dawn Princess put out an SOS, and the U.S. Navy heeded the call.

The USS Ronald Reagan was on a training mission in the Pacific Ocean 550 miles away and immediately dispatched two helicopters.

Montero needed emergency surgery that couldn’t be performed on the cruise ship, but getting to her wasn’t easy.

“They evacuated the whole back end of the ship so that the helicopter could come and lower the basket. They put her in the basket,” LaField said. “She had a little stuffed animal dog and she was holding that for dear life.”

Hours later, Montero was aboard the carrier where crews rushed her into surgery.

Got an email from Fred yesterday

And it contained the single best title for a bus tour. Ever.

Fred Thompson, the Clear Conservative Choice: Hands Down

If you’re in Iowa, here is a link to the dates and times.

As always, money is helpful and donations are being accepted. Like I mentioned this weekend, I sent $100 bucks his way Friday night, what can you do?

Has anyone ever heard of this ass?

So I’m tip-toeing my way through the fever swamp that is The Huff-a-ton Post and I find this bitch-boy named “Kaj Larsen” posting about firearms and his upcoming Current TV special on the Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot.

I use the derogatory term above because, as is usual with his kind, he makes the usual flaw of insulting anyone who has ever handled a fully automatic firearm outside of military service in his opening paragraph.

In the summer of 2006, I was in Mogadishu, Somalia, a failed and forgotten state that had been suffering from almost a decade of civil war. It is still one of the most dangerous places in the world, and even my 10 guards armed with Kalashnikovs didn’t prevent me from being detained by Islamic militias. During my five days in Mogadishu, I could rarely leave the security of the hotel. But, during one outing I convinced my guards to take me to the Irtokte Gun Market, the largest arms bazaar in Somalia. I spent 20 minutes at this open-air market, and was both amazed and alarmed at the sheer amount of firepower available for sale. There were thousands of AK-47s being sold as casually as carpets from wood framed stalls. I remember thinking what a unique and extraordinary experience I was having, and that I would probably never see this kind of thing again. Then I went to Knob Creek, Kentucky.

The Knob Creek gun range, in West Point, Kentucky is the home of the country’s largest machine gun shoot. This small rural town is a Mecca for gun enthusiasts and the weaponry both on display and for sale makes the Somalian gun market look like a neighborhood yard sale. During my time in Knob Creek, I watched everyone from 9-year-old grandsons to 80-year-old grandmas fire off everything from 9mm pistols to 50 caliber machine guns.

Fuck you, Kaj.

Everyone at Knob Creek was a law abiding citizen, who has had a background check deeper than your last colonoscopy. They suffer from the overbearing weight of a hundred government regulations and have to live in fear of going to jail because the federal agency who controls the licenses for these firearms will lie, cheat and lose paperwork, not caring that they will put people out of home and occupation simply to look busy and justify their budget.

You compare these upstanding and hardworking people to brigands and pirates in a Somali gun market?

Were you trying to gain the title of “Biggest Fucknozzle of the Year”, or did you just step into it like a pile of dogshit?

ES&D, Kaj.

Don’t forget to wave and smile

Because Big Brother is watching you and he really hates that.

The Insta-Man posted up a couple links on today’s growing “Surveillance Society” yesterday.

I thought that you minght find them interesting.

Reynolds’ post at Popular Mechanincs

And this one, also in PM, from James Vlahos.

The ferry arrived, the gangway went down and 7-year-old Emma Powell rushed toward the Statue of Liberty. She climbed onto the grass around the star-shaped foundation. She put on a green foam crown with seven protruding rays. Turning so that her body was oriented just like Lady Liberty’s, Emma extended her right arm skyward with an imaginary torch. I snapped a picture. Then I took my niece’s hand, and we went off to buy some pretzels.

Other people were taking pictures, too, and not just the other tourists—Liberty Island, name notwithstanding, is one of the most heavily surveilled places in America. Dozens of cameras record hundreds of hours of video daily, a volume that strains the monitoring capability of guards. The National Park Service has enlisted extra help, and as Emma and I strolled around, we weren’t just being watched by people. We were being watched by machines.

Ahh, yes. The other kind of Intelligent Design that worries me.

Btw, in case you missed it, these coincide with the Senate discussing surveillance legislation this week.
