Liberal Ideas Never Work

Oh Canada, with their excellent liberal thoughts that led to their firearms licensing and registration system never could have predicted something like this,

Criminals are renting guns for the weekend like some people rent movies, Ontario Attorney-General Michael Bryant said Tuesday.

Mr. Bryant said local and provincial law-enforcement officials tell him guns are being rented out for short periods of time, making it difficult for prosecutors to trace them.

Gee golly willakers, Bob and Doug! You mean that criminals will not respect your laws and even come up with schemes to foil even your best laid plans!?!

Those mean old criminals!

Add to that, the farcical Ballistic Fingerprint System’ that is dying a slow death (hopefully) on the east coast.

Imagine, the liberal gun bigots supporting an evidence gathering system that would stand a good chance of imprisoning the wrong person if this type of thing happened in their jurisdiction.

Oh wait, I forgot, the left doesnt care about controlling criminals, they only care about controlling guns.

Guess Who

Ralph G. Neas, president of People for the American Way, a liberal activist group said this,

“To replay this narrow and completed debate demonstrates the Bush administration’s failure to craft a positive agenda for the American people,”

Guess who else did too.

Guess Who #2

There isnt a prize or anything, but I thought you might like to know who wrote this drivel. You may be surprised.

“The freedom that we want is not the freedom of interest-bearing banks and vast corporations and misleading mass media; not the freedom of the destruction of others for the sake of materialistic interestsand not the freedom to use women as a commodity to gain clients, win deals, or attract tourists; not the freedom of Hiroshima and Nagasaki; and not the freedom of trading in the apparatus of torture and supporting the regimes of oppression and Copts and suppression, the friends of America; and not the freedom of Israel, with their annihilation of the Muslims and destruction of the Aqsa mosque; and not the freedom of Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib.”

Answer is here.

Now that St. Valentine’s Day is over

As you may have read a while back, the Analog Wife’s brother, Everett, is stationed at Camp Anaconda, Balad Airbase in Iraq with Delta Company, 1-189th Aviation Battalion.

Here is a pic of Everett as his company staged in the transient housing in Kuwait awaiting their aircraft and equipment.

Kuwait01.JPG

Smiling upon command as usual

They have only recently gotten situated at Anaconda with their stuff, but Everett sends word that he should be getting his laptop and camera from home shortly and be sending pics for me to post here.

At home in Montana, Everett has a wife, two sons and a very new daughter who are missing him badly. I am making packages from Uncle Phil and Aunt Tessa to send to the kids during the time apart to help keep their spirits up. Books, toys games, etc.

A couple weeks before St. Valentine’s Day, I emailed Everett and detailed a secret plan to cover him on that holiday. He liked the idea and it was carried out.

Now that the holiday is over I can tell you of the secret plan, as the Analog Wife’s family members stop by RNS and I didn’t want the secret to get to her beforehand.

From ProFlowers.Com (whom I heard about via the Michael Medved Show) I placed an order of flowers and had them shipped to Mrs. Everett.

From the story told to me via the Analog Wife;

Mrs. Everett got a knock on the door. She answered it and there was a woman from UPS standing there with a delivery.

Mrs. Everett asked if the UPS lady had the right house because she couldn’t think of who could be sending her something from the place on the label. “It couldn’t be my husband. He’s in Iraq.”

The UPS lady double-checked the address and the name and said was pretty sure she had the right house. Mrs. Everett said “OK, come on in while I open it.”

She did open it and right on top of the 48 Petite Roses was the card with the Happy Valentine’s Day message I OK’d with Everett.

Rumor has it that tears of joy erupted from both Mrs. Everett and the UPS lady.

You gotta love it when you can do something nice for good people.

The coolest part is that she doesn’t know it was us (unless someone over there tells her, and we wouldn’t want that, now would we people?).

The next best part was that right after I placed that order, I snuck one in for the Analog Wife, completely surprising the cans right off her.

Anyway, I have got a small collection of pics from Balad that I’ll be sharing with you all in the near future and we should be hearing from Everett somewhat regularly in the near future.

I hope your holiday was as happy as Mrs. Everett’s was.

Something Unconstitutional This Way Comes

Watch out for this,

FEC May Tighten Restrictions On Internet Political Activity

The Federal Election Commission next month will begin looking at tightening restrictions on political activities on the Internet, ROLL CALL reports Monday.

The FEC is planning to examine the question of how Internet activities, when coordinated with candidates’ campaigns, fit into the definition of ‘public communications.

Specifically, the FEC is planning to examine the question of how Internet activities, when coordinated with candidates’ campaigns, fit into the definition of “public communications.” While coordinated communications are considered campaign contributions and therefore subject to strict contribution limits, current FEC regulations adopted in 2002 carve out an exemption for coordinated political communications that are transmitted over the Internet.

Throughout the entire last campaign season I was wondering how the FEC kept track of internet contributions from sites like the Klueless Kos Klan and ADDTrios.

It looks like they werent

I wonder if the left will want McCain Feingold gotten rid of now too?

The bad part of this is that like most government crap, they may take this entirely too far and shut little people like myself up, either by measuring a contribution via the number of hits per day, week or month or just shut down political blogs entirely.

Freedom of speech?

Yeah, right. This is the government were talking about here. I always thought I could talk with my wallet until McCain Feingold. Apparently not anymore.

Keep an eye on this.

It looks like Hizbollah is having trouble finding volunteers.

Coming back to bite him

Squarely on the ass.

Looney Leftie Mayor of London, Red Ken Livingstone is seeing a side of anti-hate speech legislation he never thought he would.

Livingstone refuses to apologise

Ken Livingstone yesterday risked transforming a local drama into an escalating crisis as he refused to apologise for likening a Jewish newspaper reporter to a concentration camp guard.
With three Holocaust survivors sitting in the public chamber at City Hall and in the face of pleas from his political friends and foes, the London mayor said he could not withdraw remarks he made to a London Evening Standard journalist because to do so would make him a “liar”.

With condemnation mounting, the Board of Deputies of British Jews yesterday formally reported Mr Livingstone for investigation by the government’s local government watchdog, accusing him of “gross insensitivity”. The involvement of the Standards Board for England raises the prospect that Mr Livingstone may be censured or suspended. But, confounding observers who believed he was ready to make amends, Mr Livingstone stood firm, claiming he had been the victim of a 24-year hate campaign by newspapers, particularly Associated Newspapers, publishers of the Evening Standard, and the Daily Mail.

Sorry Ken, you cannot claim hate of your person in legislation, for it would be true fascism to penalize anyone who doesnt like you.

But that is truly what the left is going for.

So it is a swing and a miss for Red Ken Livingstone. Lets see if he gets his wickets knocked down on the next bowl.

The guy has a point

News Item:

An Idaho man driving a stolen Geo Metro led officers here on a high-speed chase Wednesday evening and didnt pull over until his tires were popped.

Craig from MTPolitics:

Somehow, it just doesnt seem like Geo Metro and high speed chase should be in the same sentence.
